Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose law simply for the fact that it is quite a reputable profession and an individual knows the Constitution or the legal system better than any average person. Knowing the legal system is quite important where one knows about their rights. Also its quite a well paying job. The curriculum in our college is just theorotical for the most part. We are taken on trips to courts and jails but that is quite occasional. As far as the improvement of the curriculum is considered, law depends mostly on reading books, judgments and visitations to the courts. Books can be read by a student but the thing which should be implemented in the curriculum is character development or Inculcating confidence in the students who are especially introverts. Every person needs a certain push or an interaction in their life which helps them boost their morale and become a better person. This can be done by reducing the work of assignments given to the students

Fees and Financial Aid

There are no scholarship opportunities for the students although there are refferal awards and discounts given to the students whenever they bring someone from their refference. The tution fees of the college is 3.31 lakhs but the prices come somewhere around 4 to 5 lakhs at total. There has not been any sudden incline or hike in the fees and sem wise the fees submitted comes around 81k.

Campus Life

2

I.P. university conducts an annual festival every year called ANUGOONJ. Every college affiliated with I. P university (which is more than 127 colleges) takes part in this cultural event to showcaae their talent. Jims itself has its cultural events called ZEST and dandiya night in October. The college law library has a wide array of books ranging from bare acts to books related to syllabus which an individual can issue on a monthly basis. Classrooms have a projector with no provided computer so to operate the projector a laptop has to be connected with an HDMI cable. One basketball court is provided in the campus and a small court to play badminton not cricket nets or a field is present in the college. Groups like the Kalakrity society, the debate and discussion society and the mock trial society is run by the students where the students can showcase their skills and participate in various events.

Admission

For admission of the course it is important for one to undergo the common law entrance test or CLAT. After the announcement of results a portal in I.P. university is opened where once can opt for any desired college based on their rankings in the exam. As fas as my college is concerned there were no entrance exams and one could get direct admission in the college based on their CLAT rank. The instition has 5 lists and a special list for the admission of students. One major flaw in many private colleges is that if a person pays a lot of money, they take the seat from a deserving candidate to give it to the less deserving candidate.

Faculty

2

The faculties in our college are well educated and can teach and explain the concepts very well but still there are exceptions. I find that many of our faculties have a difficulty in communicating in english which is pretty acceptable although but being a law faculty, I think that being able to communicate or interact in english is a basic necessity and as a faculty this should be a piece of cake. As far as interaction is concerned i have noticed this wherever i have studied and its not any different in my college. One can interact with the teacher but the class being filled with so many individuals makes it difficult to ask questions or interact with the teachers for introverts especially like me. Yes the "extroverts" Dont have any problem doing that. I know for a fact that this is a common thing in most of the universities but the point which i would like to emphasize upon is that the teachers are just doing their job. Nothing out of the way which is expected in a college.
