What Students Say
Likes
- JNTUH has a good placement record. Both core and software companies do come for recruitment.
- JNTUH boasts a picturesque lush green campus, spanning over 89 acres
Dislikes
- JNTUH Chemical Engineering department lacks permanent faculty.
- It's difficult to go for offline internships during course work because 75% attendance has to be maintained
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is well organised. The core subjects of chemical engineering include HT, MT, TD, FM etc. Syllabus and all are well organised. But it could be great if more faculty were in the department. Currently guest faculty are being employed for teaching professional electives and few core subjects.
Internships Opportunities
I could do an internship at Telangana Pollution Control Board for 6 months during my final year. Many private companies often provide internships to students. Students can visit various PSUs, and private companies for internships during summer vacation.
Placement Experience
We do get both core and software placements. JNTU has a good placement record. I'm unaware of the highest package but the average package is about 4-5LPA. Companies that have come especially for taking chemical engineering students are DRL, Aurobindo Pharma, Worley, AmaraRaja, JSW, Laxai life sciences and many more.
Fees and Financial Aid
I didn't apply for scholarship. But mostly of my friends did. And they could get financial assistance to complete their btech through TS EPASS. My college fee was 18000 per year. That was 2020. There has been a significant change now. But most of the students get scholarships.
Campus Life
Technical fests will be organised by every branch every year. Names are Quest, Genos, Ayas, Connaissance etc. Apart from this, there are several clubs run by students like Robotics, Elite feet, Raaga Varsha, Idea, Career Guidance and Entrepreneurship etc in the college which were established as a part of Golden Jubilee of JNTUH. We have two libraries in our campus. One is College Library and the other one is University Library. There is an indoor stadium, a big sports ground and a basketball court. We also have two auditoriums (UGC Auditorium and JN Auditorium).
Admission
Admission is obviously through TS EAMCET. Lateral entry students have to pass TS ECET to get an addmission in JNTUH. Starting and final ranks vary depending on the branch chosen. Eamcet is pretty simple when compared to JEE Mains and Advanced. Admission process is quite simple. Just a bit of certificate verification and counselling followed by fee payment and certificate submission in the college.
Faculty
Department of Chemical engineering mainly has temporary faculty and that too very less in number which is a main drawback. As of now, faculty are well qualified and are really good. It could be great if permanent faculty are recruited in this regard.
