- The college administration, which recently changed, has become very strict...treating students like children and being very strict than before
Course Curriculum Overview
The courses curriculum (in my case accounting and finance department) enlightened me on the importance and the need of our sector in all companies. This lets the students to understand the concept of management of cash and cash equivalent aspects. The curriculum is very important for the real world as there are no companies, sectors, regions and work without an accounts department. So the curriculum assures us a job. The course curriculum at present in my opinion doesnt really need any change. The teaching methods are quite good except for one or two staffs who, like I mentioned before, are somewhat under-qualified for the job or lack teaching skills. The frequency of exams are okay...they are not rapid or with a long break either. The timings of exams are sufficient and the diffculty level is on par with the subjects difficulty. If the student learns the subject well by understanding the concept, he/she wont feel it much difficult.
Internships Opportunities
The college gives an internship letter that validates the student and he/she learning in the college. It is solely the student's responsibility to find a company and get an internship opportunity from them. The students are not given enough time to complete the internships in my opinion and it is quite rushed by the college.
Placement Experience
From the 5th semester, the students are eligible for campus placement opportunities if they do not have any current arrears. There are many companies that come for the campus placements but many of them are not very big or popular. They are mostly companies of tier 2 or 3. The highest package offered as far as I know is 7L per annum and the average package is 1.9L per annum. Approximately 35% of students get placed into the companies in campus placement every year in my college. My plans after getting my degree is to prepare for the UPSC exam and to clear it to become an IPS officer
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
Since i have started my college learning, there have been no hikes in the fee payments. The payments are quite nominal and affordable by a middle class family. The complete cost for my education would approximately come upto rupees 2,00,000 (which includes the college fees, book expenses, clothing, and other extra curricular activities expenses). There are multiple scholarship facilities available for the students (ex: SC/ST students scholarship, sports quota scholarship, high CGPA scholarship, NCC students scholarship, etc.). I am not quite sure about the amount of scholarship given or the concession but it sure helps the students to achieve more and boost their quantum of capabilities. I have not attended any campus employment opportunities yet as I have just started my 3rd year of college and the campus interviews are yet to come, but as far as I know, the companies that come for the campus interviews are not that very famous or big companies. They are mostly tier 2 and 3 company
Campus Life
Events happen continuously throughout the year ranging from inter-college events to intra-college events and inter-departmental events to intra-departmental events. The major events are the freshers event, culturals event and the graduation ceremony. The range is books in the library is okay. The library is pretty well maintained and the ambience is quite nice. The facilities and technological provisions are good, the college keeps updating throughout the year and the facilities are quite expanding. The college very well supports sports and extra curricular activtites. There are many clubs such as the LEO club, Consumer club, Enviro club, etc. There are also the NCC and NSS. The college gives equal importance and governance to these activities. I have no idea about student-run social groups and i am most certain they dont exist in the college.
Admission
The application process was pretty simple. In my case I applied online and got my appointment, and when I went there, they questioned me about my academics in school and my choice of group. As I had an above average of eighty percentage in my 12th board exams, they gave me admission after I paid 70000 as a whole there itself. The application is available through both online and offline modes, the application through online costed 300 rupees I guess, but I am not sure about the offline mode. The application time is announced in the college website itself and it is also advertised through students, friends and staffs. The frequency of the exams are okay, not too free or not too fast. The difficulty in my perspective is easy as the questions are set by the MADRAS UNIVERSITY except or some occasions where the question paper is very tough. In my opinion the students shouldn't be asked to pay the full amount of fee for the academic year at the time of admission.
Faculty
The facutly to student ratio is healthy...all the students get the learning experience that they are meant to be or promised to be given. The faculty's credentials are shared with all the students and their approach to teaching and mentorship is good except for few scenarios where the staffs can be not very qualified for the job, but that's only a percentage. The teachers can be approached very easily as they are quite friendly in nature and the staffs that cannot be dealt with are only a small percentage.
