Remarks

The college provides great assistance when you are in need of it. It does not have any buses for transport. But it is very close to the Chrompet railway station due to which almost all students come by train. It is a great college to study and if students work hard, they can use the colleges, reputation to get into the top companies.

Entrance Preview

This college is one of the best institutes in Tamil Nadu and is one among the top 10 in India. It has a good reputation regarding the placements and development of an individual with respect to their personality and technical abilities. It is also well known for the senior-junior relationship where seniors act as mentors for the juniors in terms of Academics and placements and also in building up fun.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum could have been better taking into account the industry requirements. I am from IT department but instead of focussing more on the coding part, there was much more focus on the theoretical aspects due to which some people were not able to write a code for a basic program like Factorial. The electives should be introduced at an earlier stage because we had learned a lot of subjects which would not be used in the future.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college provides internship in the third year where top companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Paypal recruit people. They would start their work in the sixth semester holidays. They would be given a PPO if they perform extremely well in their intern. The general stipend is around 25000-30000. The internship would provide great exposure to students and a good opportunity for stuf=dents to learn what it would look like in the real world.

Placement Experience

4

The placements are pretty good here since its one of the top colleges in Tamil Nadu. Many top IT companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe recruit here. If you have a decent CGPA then you have better chances of getting into the top companies. But when we look at the non-IT departments, only a few core companies recruit here and they recruit only 1 or 2 people.

College Events

3.5

Each department would conduct a technical symposium at various sections of the year where paper presentations would be a part in every symposium. Games such as FIFA, Counterstrike would also be a part of it. Cultural Festival would be held around February where various celebrities would be invited. It also provides an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in other fields such as short films.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it is a government college, the fees are very less compared to other colleges. It is only 14000 per semester and 1000 for exam fees. For first graduate students, it is only 7000. For 4 years, the expenditures would be less than 1 lakh as compared to 1 lakh per year in most of the private colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

AMITA Scholarship: It accounts for about 20,000 per year. It is not restricted to a certain caste of students but requires good academic performance and income certificate of the parents.

Campus Life

4

The 4 years of college were the best in my life. It provided me with a new family with whom I can share the rest of my lives. The gender ratio depends on each department. While Automobile and Production Technology hardly had any girls, Computer Science and ECE department had a number of girls. The infrastructure is pretty good here. It has all the necessary laboratories and the recent technologies are also made available to the students. The students are also provided with Wi-Fi facilities upon registration. The classrooms are big enough but most of the time there would be power cuts. It has an indoor stadium but for outdoor games, the students have to go to a nearby ground.

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostel food and the canteen food is not as expected. But they have a new canteen especially for fast food and chat items which provide a new variety to students. There are 9 hostels where 4 are for boys,3 for girls and 2 for NRI students. Sometimes, students face a problem of water shortage but the rooms are fairly well maintained.

Alumni/Alumna

This college has the best relationship between seniors and juniors and is known for it. The seniors help juniors in preparing for their placements and projects which are given to us in all semesters. The alumni are also closely connected to the college since they would be invited for each technical symposium and cultural fests where they would share their experiences and help students in shaping their minds.

Exam Structure

Each laboratory subject would have 75 marks as internals and the final exam would be for 25 marks. The other non-laboratory subjects would consider 50 marks for internals and 50 marks for the end term exam. The final exam would be for 100 marks after which it would be converted to 50. For internals, there would be 3 tests for 25 marks out of which the best of 2 would be considered for internals.

Admission

In the 12th Std State Board Annual Examination, I got 97.67%. I had then applied for counseling providing all my details. A rank list would be generated and can be viewed online in the Anna University website. The list would be generated based on your cut off mark (Out of 200) which is calculated by taking into consideration the marks obtained in Maths(Converted to 100 from 200), Physics(Converted to 50 from 100) and Chemistry(Converted to 50 from 100). Then I was called on the 2nd day based on my cut off after which I had to choose 3 colleges and based on my priority and availability of seats, I got admitted to the college.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty members have a minimum degree of post graduation and many of them have doctorates. But since they have finished their academics a long time ago, they are finding it difficult to adapt to the current technologies. Since most of the students have got into this college with a high score, they expect them to read most of the topics by themselves.
