Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Any academic curriculum can be broadly judged on 2 criterias, difficulty and the reward it offers. As far as the medical course is considered its positioning is at both the extremes. It is considered as one of the most difficult course and at the same time it guarantees the means of livelihood. Finally the course is completely relevant and the toughness forges you to become more potent at efficient in daily life.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college itself offers a post degree one year paid internship in the attached hospital or any nearby government hospital. After that the rural service bond comes to action which impies students to serve the bond period with service at the allocated place, the bond period and the stipend varies in every situation.

Fees and Financial Aid

In a government medical college in Madhya Pradesh the tution fees is 1 lakh per annum which needs to be payed for 4.5 years of the degree. The overall cost of education including tution fees, hostel fees and other mandatory expenses averages out to 8 lakh. There are several government schemes to aid the education like MMVY scheme and PMS scheme in which government grants the tution fee of eligible students. At the end of the training there is a 1 year internship at the attached or nearby government hospital. The pay varies from college to college and speaking of my institute it is currently 13000 per month.

Campus Life

2.5

In my college the overall campus life is great, the campus is peaceful and lushious, as such no major events are held apart from the ganesh chaturthi, holi and dussehra. This may be a drawback of the institute of not arranging facilities for fests and events. Apart from that the library is well developed and all major course related content is easily accessible. The classrooms are fully centralised and highly technically sound. Sports takes up great involvement and regular sports activities takes place in a well facilitated sports complex. The absense of any student club, committee and groups also can be a negative point.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

The rooms in the hostel are 2 seater and provided with just the basic facilities. The washrooms are common washrooms ( usually 1 per 10 rooms ). The meal is of questionable quality lacking the hyegine and nutritional richness, although meals are optional if one wants to opt for any food service outside. The fees for just the rooms is 12000 per annum and with the 2 course meal is 84000 per year.

Admission

Admission in a medical institute occurs via a national level examination called NEET UG. All 12th pass students with biology as subject are eligible to appear in the exam. The application forms are all available at the official site of the managing agency, NTA. There are multiple reservation categories like the SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PWD, FF etc. for which seats are reserved. The NEET UG examination takes place once a year typically the first weekend of may month. The exam overall is considered to be difficult to crack because of the low acceptance rate, vast syllabus, and the rapidly growing competition. The admission process both before and after the exam are very tedious and tiresome. Many complications in the documentation makes it horribly exhausting.

Faculty

5

There are almost 20 professors for first proff and 200 students so the student teacher ratio is quite impressive. We have good enough interaction with faculty and they are also pretty helpful, kind and compassionate. Also the professors teaching are also practicing doctors therefore the credibility cannot be questioned. Lastly, the faculty teacher interaction is fantastic here.

Ive already mentioned about the frequency of examinations. As for area of improvements, they should also incorporate rural visits and train us for real life
