GMC Bhopal Admission Dates 2026

Admissions for the 2026-27 academic session are governed by NEET UG for the MBBS programme and NEET PG for MD/MS postgraduate seats. The NEET UG 2026 examination was held on 21 June 2026 and results were declared on 16 July 2026. MCC All India Quota counselling is currently in the mop-up round stage as of October 2026, while MP state quota counselling for MBBS seats is also underway through DME Madhya Pradesh.

The NEET PG 2026 examination was held on 30 August 2026, with results expected in September 2026. Counselling for MD/MS seats under All India Quota and MP state quota is expected to begin by October to November 2026. GMC Bhopal Courses and Fees

GMC Bhopal offers undergraduate, postgraduate, super-specialty, nursing, and paramedical programmes. MBBS remains the flagship programme with 250 seats and a total fee of INR 1.14 Lakhs under Government Quota. The fee structure across all programmes is determined by MPMSU and the Madhya Pradesh government, making it among the most affordable medical education options in central India.

The MD programme spans 16 specialities including pre-clinical branches such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, and Pharmacology alongside clinical branches like General Medicine, Radio Diagnosis, Emergency Medicine, and Respiratory Medicine. M.Sc Nursing is offered in Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing. Hostel fees are billed separately at INR 12,000 to 18,000 per year for both boys and girls.

GMC Bhopal Admission Process

Admission to all medical programmes at GMC Bhopal is merit-based through NEET examinations conducted by the NTA. The college is a government institution with no management or NRI quota seats. The selection process differs across undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty levels.

MBBS Admission

MBBS admission follows the national NEET UG counselling process. Of the 250 seats, 37 are filled through MCC All India Quota (AIQ) and 213 through MP DME state quota counselling.

The NEET UG 2025 closing rank for General Category under AIQ Round 3 was 9,417 at GMC Bhopal. Under the MP State Quota, the General Category closing rank was 13,812 in 2025. State quota seats are further distributed across General, OBC, SC, and ST categories as per MP reservation norms.

MD/MS Admission

Postgraduate MD and MS seats are filled through NEET PG. MCC handles 50% of seats under AIQ and MP DME manages the remaining 50% under state quota. Candidates must hold an NMC-recognised MBBS degree and must have completed a one-year rotating internship before the date of joining. PG Diploma seats follow the same NEET PG route and are admitted through MP state quota counselling.

DM/M.Ch Admission

Super-specialty seats in DM (Cardiology and Gastroenterology) and M.Ch (Cardio-Vascular Thoracic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, and Urology) are filled through NEET SS, conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Candidates must hold MD or MS degrees in the relevant parent speciality. MCC manages the national counselling for super-specialty seats.

Nursing and Paramedical Programmes

B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Respiratory Therapy, and allied health diploma programmes are admitted through MP state-level entrance examinations. Eligibility for B.Sc Nursing requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with a minimum of 45% aggregate. M.Sc Nursing requires a B.Sc Nursing degree from a recognised institution.

GMC Bhopal Placements and Career Outcomes

GMC Bhopal is a government medical institution and does not conduct campus placements in the conventional sense. Career outcomes for MBBS graduates are shaped by three primary pathways: NEET PG-based postgraduate training, government medical officer service in Madhya Pradesh, and private practice or hospital employment.

The majority of MBBS graduates appear for NEET PG within one to two years of completing the mandatory rotating internship. Admission to MD/MS at government colleges is the most common progression. Residents pursuing MD/MS at government colleges in Madhya Pradesh draw a monthly stipend of INR 40,000 to 60,000. The central library maintains a wide collection of medical and allied health textbooks, journals, and digital resources relevant to UG and PG curricula.

The attached Hamidia Hospital, with 1,800 beds, is the primary clinical training facility. It covers all major clinical departments including medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, orthopaedics, neurology, cardiology, and emergency medicine. The hospital’s large daily patient intake from Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh gives MBBS and PG students exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations and emergency cases. The hospital also has dedicated trauma, burn, and intensive care units. During the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, GMC Bhopal and Hamidia Hospital served as the primary treatment centre for thousands of affected patients, a period that shaped the institution’s emergency response capabilities.

Hostel facilities are available on campus for both male and female students. Hostel fees range from INR 12,000 to INR 18,000 per year. GMC Bhopal vs MGMMC Indore vs NSCB Medical College Jabalpur

NSCB Medical College Jabalpur offers a relatively more accessible cutoff profile given its 100-seat intake and central location in the state.
