What Students Say?
Likes
- The faculty at St. Mira’s College is outstanding and the best I could find in all the college I applied to. They ensure maximum participation during lectures and make them feel like discussions rather than a boring class.
- The college constantly encourages us to participate in competitions, internships. It has tie ups with multiple internship institutions and gives us multiple opportunities to enroll and enrich ourselves
Dislikes
- The infrastructure of the college is quite limited, and has been facing criticism for a while now.
- The college is pretty strict about dress code, which means that no sleeve less tops or skirts above the knee are allowed
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is decided by the college since it is autonomous, and that makes it better because it is dynamic as it keeps up with the changing trends in each discipline (for ex, psychology). Various reference books are used instead of sticking to one book all semester. This ensures a wide array of information
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered abundantly. The college has a tie up with MyCaptain and AISEC, two very prestigious and popular institutions which are great additions to your resume. Along with these, multiple companies do offer internship programs and courses to St. Mira's students. These courses have a lot of variety, ranging from Cybersecurity crash courses to management to content writing, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee is extremely reasonable. Along with that, multiple programs exist for the financially challenged students to earn money while on campus. These programs offer jobs on campus after college hours such as reports, etc and a fixed stipend.
Campus Life
There are many clubs available at St Mira's, including the drama club, the event organizing club, the newsletter club, the korean and japanese club, The LGBTQ+ club, the NSS club etc. As per campus life, regular functions are held (teachers day, bollywood day, taylor swift day, Harry potter day, kpop celebration, flash mobs) and everyone including the teachers comes together like a big family. We have guest lectures on campus as well. Movie screenings also take place every few weeks. The NSS club is a social service club that volunteers at events and helps out NGOs. You also get extra credits for being a part of the club. There is an annual trip to a village for volunteering. The queer club has regular talks and discussions and movie screenings every week. The Raaga club is a club created by the psychology department, it provides a safe space for anyone to reach out if theyre not doing well mentally, and it recently held a huge conference where lecturers came from all over India.
Admission
The admission process can be lengthy, considering all the paperwork to be brought to the campus during admissions. The cutoffs are high, in 2023 the cutoff for psychology was 90. I would like to have the entire admission process online instead of having to come down to the college to get it verified.
Faculty
The teachers are very qualified, ranging from those carrying a PHd in mathematics to Masters in Psychology. They are always open to answer your queries, regardless of whether it is relevant to their subject or not. They are always approachable, and give their personal number readily if you want to contact them. Each major has atleast 2 teachers to teach the students, and the teachers are often different for every year (first year, second year and so on). Moreover, the teachers are also assigned a group of mentees to be mentors for - they ensure consistency in mentor-mentee meets and listen to any complaints and get them rectified.
