What Students Say?
Likes
- The college is very academics focussed especially for pharmacy, physiotherapy, microbiology, mlt, etc which is obviously a need because we will be a part of the medical world, dealing with people's lives
- There are many events going on every now and then and people encourage you to take part in it. I honestly built my personality during those events and competitions.
Dislikes
- The biotechnology department is kind of lacking I feel like, I mean it can be better in my opinion
- The organisation of events is not under students, we're merely assisting but it's headed and lead by teachers and staff
Course Curriculum Overview
Honestly the curriculum is set by PCI so the college has no role in altering it and they do a fairly good job at teaching it. I chose pharmacy because during COVID I saw so many people get laid off and I knew the only sector that stays working and working even during epidemics is medical line. It may sound pretty sad but it's just my opinion. Honestly, one thing I do not like about the course is that we're still taught about drugs that are not longer even used in the pharma market. The course should be up to date but unfortunately it's not. But the college provides book bank for free, so we don't need to go around looking and buying books...although they're pretty old versions but beggars can't be choosers. The frequency of exams is pretty alright. Just that the second sessionals and end sem exams continue without any gap between the both but it taught us to handle multiple things at once.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in the final semester of their course. There are a few companies that visit and teachers even encourage the students to go for pool campus interviews. Companies like Macleods Pharmaceuticals, Rusan Pharmaceuticals, Academically Global Pvt ltd, Neclife ltd, etc have hired from our college Highest package so far is probably 3lc pa This year the placement ratio has gone up significantly. My plans are to see where life takes me, if I get placement I'll probably take up the opportunity and prepare for my master along with it.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions
The fee structure is alright ( for a private college) as you get scholarship based on your last passed exam. I got 90% in 12th so I got 1.56lc off. The tuition fee structure you get at the admission is what is followed thus there is no hike in it during your course. We need to pay for uniform again in 3rd yr of the course and if is compulsory and if costs 7k Other than that few hundred are submitted for various workshops, farewells, freshers etc. But you can earn a few hundred by participating in competitions with prize money. And the toppers of the batch get paid great amounts at the end of their course during annual day. If submission of fee in two installments ( semester wise) is hard, we can request to submit it in 3-4 installments. There are no campus employment that I'm aware of.
Campus Life
The number of events is enough, not too may not too little. No doubt they don't scatter them enough so sometimes they line up one after the other. There are the following events Annual day ( consisting of a day ceremony for honouring the academic achievers, then the evening function from cultural committee, then the next day is dj night) The day before annual day ( utsav) is saptrang for all the creative bees of our college. There are various competitions for creative arts (rangoli, aipan panting, tshirt painting, poster making, card making, mehendi), photography ( various categories) and nature's club( floral arrangements, bouquets, garlands, rangoli etc.) Other than that we have interhouse competitions (even saptrang is interhouse ) Cultural competion( singing and dancing both group and solo & western and classical) Chess, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, badminton, cricket, sports day etc There are various societies : creative, cultural, creative writing, nature
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is on the affordable side, you can choose your room based on your requirements there are rooms with ac and washroom as well The cheapest room is a triple seater for 39.5k per semester. The food and other facilities remain the same. Laundry, mess, electricity bill, water bill are all included in the fee( except for ones with attached washrooms they have to pay the electricity bill) The food is pretty good compared to other hostels although the quality varies at times but it is regained if you mention it to the warden. The hostel is kept pretty clean, hot water is supplied during winters, in medical emergencies their is staff to help us out. Proper care is taken in the hostel. If I had an option to choose between hostel or pg I'd still choose hostel. There are events like freshers and farewell for hostel too. It's fun.
Admission
The admission process takes place on campus, however, you can talk to the admission cell on call for details. An admission incharge guides you throughout the admission process, telling you about all the courses and various perks of the college. They even guide you to get the most discount on your fees. The admission starts early, the ones that get their admission early et an early bird discount as well. The admission process, in my opinion, goes pretty smoothly so I have no suggestion for it so far.
Faculty
Honestly faculty isn't enough, some teachers aren't even experts in the subjects they're teaching and they're not teaching it in the way it should be taught. Sometimes they ruin our interest in certainbsubjects with the way they teach. Some teachers have achieved a lot and are very good at their job but some very few are not. Interaction ad approachability is pretty good, it's fairly easy to reach out to any faculty and teacher.
