Likes
- The thing that I like the most about Patna Science College(PSC) is the environment and the surrounding of the college. PSC is surroumded by a numerous trees giving it a very greenery and fresh look.
- The majority of students in PSC are students from Bihar itself. The fact about Bihari students is that they are not only intelligent in studying but also they are very good in cocurricular activities .
- The faculties are good enough and are regular.
Dislikes
- Day by day PSC is deteriorating in all terms which make a college a perfect one.
- The condition of hostels is not up to the mark. I myself have been in Faraday hostel for 3 three years and have witnessed poor infrastructure and less availability of basic requirements of a hostel.
- A student who comes with lot of expectations of doing a lot and fulfilling his/her dreams is totally disappointed. No placement cell is available in PSC and the most famous talk in college is 'POLITICS'.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course the I choose was Bsc. in Statistics. From childhood I am interested in solving mathemical problems so I choose Statistics. Their a huge application of Statistics in Data Science which is a hot point nowadays. After doing Msc. in statistics from a prolific college good number of job opportunities are available. Modern gadgets should be installed in all departments which can improve in visualisation giving students modern approach of learning. My seesion is the last session in which exams are held once in a year. Now the exams are held semester wise which is good.
Fees and Financial Aid
Their's no hike in fee from so many years and the fee is also very nominal. The college fee and the hostel fee both are less than Rs. 3500. The scholarship available is the scholarship provided by the Government of Bihar. No placement cell is available in PSC regardless of the fact that vocational courses like BCA, BIO TECH, Environmental Science are being taught here.
Campus Life
Annual function is conducted in December and few curriculum activities are performed seasonally. All books related to college studies are available in the Central Library of Patna University and all departments have their respective libraries. Modern facilities like projector and digital screen is available in few class rooms. Simple boards and benches are available in all classrooms. Few sports and extra curricular activities are entertained in PSC. No club is available but WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram groups are their which gives regular information.
Hostel Facilities
Infrastructure of the Hostels is not up to the mark and no regular construction is done on the damaged parts. Hostel mess runs on tender. College don't care about what the hostel students are eating and the price of the faculties meals is very high. Hostels are alloted according to the score of the students in the exams. I got Farady hostel and stayed their for 3 years.
Admission
Student's have to cross the cutoff of the entrance exam conducted by Patna University. Application form is available on official website of Patna University, application fee is Rs. 1000 and applications are available currently. Reserved students get benefit while admission. 3 hour exam is conducted and the difficulty is moderate. The website is little slow it should be modified.
Faculty
The ratio of faculty to student is good and each student gets a chance to clearly his/her doubt. Most of the faculties are PHD holders. Every professor is a good mentor and their teachings can be grabbed even by a student who is weak in study if he/she pays attention. A student can have an interaction with facilities on every class day and even after the class they are available to clear our doubt.
