Course Curriculum Overview
I choose to study political science because of my interest in govt. Competitive exams, believing that pursuing arts with a focus on political science would provide an advantage in exam preparation. The classroom environment was notably vibrant and engaging. I had the opportunity to meet some intriguing peers within my department. Surprisingly, attendance in classes was consistently high, fostering a mild sense of competition among students. While I can't recall the exact student count, it was likely over 100. My experience with the teaching staff left me with mixed feelings. The department consisted of a total of six teachers. The department head offered tremendous support throughout my college journey. Examinations were held twice a year, occasionally supplemented by additional tests.
Fees and Financial Aid
The expenses incurred for pursuing graduation at Imphal College are highly affordable. Admission fees are as low as Rs.3500 for Arts, and slightly higher, around Rs.500 or Rs.1000, for Science programs. Additionally, the cost of the semester examination is only Rs.1400 per semester. When tallying all expenses, the total cost of a three-year graduation doesn't surpass Rs.20000. Scholarships are available for reservation students. As an OBC student, I didn't get any benefits due to the state government's policies, which could be held responsible for the discrepancy.
Campus Life
Every year, annual events such as foundation day, freshers meets, and annual sports take place. I believe the Foundation Day function occurs in August, alongside various club activities like NCC, Eco Club, personality development club, etc. The library provided a wide array of books and journals, which proved to be highly beneficial.
Admission
The initial steps involve applying for an entrance exam. Once selected, the admission process begins. Admission was conducted offline, where we filled out the admission form and received a challan from the payment through the Bank of Baroda. For Arts students, the admission fee was Rs.3500. Additionally, there were reserved seats and some discounts on fees for SC, ST, and OBC students. While the admission process itself was simple, the inconvenience arose from waiting in long queues at the bank for payment. Implementing online transactions could greatly enhance the convenience of the admission process.
