What Students Say
Likes
- Not much except my English Hons Teaching staff. As I said it's a dry college and I don't recommend students to study in this college for now.
- Atleast it's the only decent college in Manipur
Dislikes
- Poor Infrastructure, some of the buildings are old and it needs to be renovated.
- Poor Sports Facility. There's no Basketball court which is very important, no swimming pool, no racing track etc
- Exams are always done late and this is by far the worst thing about this college. And there's no fest in the college
Course Curriculum Overview
I had no specific course set in my at that moment but out of all, English seemed quite well-performing department among other departments. Plus it was not too difficult to start with as English was a common subject and we were used to it. The classroom buildings were not too good but it was manageable. At first day the classroom seemed small and wasn't able to fit in all of the students, but gradually the attendance kept decreasing which is a common thing and now only 60 of us are attending the classes. The teachers are well qualified with a Doctorate qualification and I don't have anything bad to say about them. Their teaching methods are easy to understand, and they're punctual; they don't usually skip classes. The exams on the other hand was the most disappointing thing about this college. Every exams were delayed atleast 2 months, and due to that out classes always started later than other colleges. The difficulty level is moderate but more than 50% students didn't manage to pass.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure of the college was affordable as it costs less than Rs5000 for a year. We had no such issues regarding the fees hike policy. The cost to study depends on the student, the books are obviously costly but we can get all the materials from the internet nowadays so it's almost free.
Campus Life
There's only the freshers' meet celebration and nothing much. The infrastructure of the college is very poor as it's under a newly recognised University and it lacks pretty much every extracurricular infrastructure. There are not much books available in the library too but there are some. The classroom includes a whiteboard and wooded benches. For sports facility ,there's a football ground and a multipurpose hall with badminton court in it and nothing else. So sports wise it lacks very much. But there are some clubs such asthe Personality Development club, the Environment Club, NSS etc. Both PD and Eco club has their own Social media website.
Admission
The whole process of admission was quite good, the questions were MCQ-based. The teachers were also strict during the test and didn't allow any sort of cheating in the process. The questions were not so difficult, yet not so easy. The course that I was entering was English Honours. and it had the highest cutoff in comparison with other courses as the maximum students applied for English Hons. More than 500 students applied for English Hons. But only 240 of us managed to secure the seats. The English Hons. It was a 4-year-long course, and the application form was available on the college website along with the submission date. As I belong to SC, I got the seat due to my reservation. The only improvement I want to see in the admission process is to allow form submission on the college website itself instead of manually submitting in the college counter, which was too crowded and took a lot of time.
Interview Experience
we didn't had GD but for PI, I was asked why did I choose English Hons, what do I aspire to do after graduation, what did I feel about the first impression of English Hons and am I fond of reading books. All of them were basic questions. The test pattern were about general knowledge and they included questions from different subjects included in Arts stream such as geography, history etc. For admission we needed to submit our 10th and 12th documents and other documents and it was pretty simple. My preperation for the entrance test was to read gk books and keeping up with current affairs and since I was an Arts student it wasn't much of an hassle for me to get in. For PI I didn't do much preperations as I knew what kind of questions they ask in it.
