Course Curriculum Overview
The course is based on the knowledge of biotechnology that can be used for agriculture. I choosed the course because I wanted to gain knowledge about agriculture and to learn the techniques of biotechnology. The faculty has good knowledge about their respective subjects but need to improve their English speaking skills. Maximum faculties have completed their MSc in biotechnology and are PhD holders. The exam pattern of the college is as follows: Mid term after 45 days after starting the new semester and semester end exam after 3 months. Each course carries some particular credits (eg: Plant tissue culture has a credit of 2+1=3. So 2 credits for theory and 1 credit for practical and each credit carries 50 marks.) It's mandatory to score 50% marks in each subject (50% in theoretical and 50% in practical) to pass the subject.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure is followed according to the merit and category. Students from manegement Kota or general category w/o scholarship are suppose to pay the complete fees for the course i.e. 100000 per year. Students in general category with scholarship pay 50% fees. SC/ ST/ NT student holding scholarships get extra benefit due to category and the fees is Rs. 9000 per year. There are no placements throught campus provided in the research department but in campus selection for banks is available.
Campus Life
Students interested in cultural activities don't get much recognition as well as facilities as the college does not focus on extra curricular activities much. The only annual festival in college gathering that takes place in the month of January every year. The library of the college has a tremendous collection of books related to the subjects of Agricultural biotechnology and agricultural business management. The classrooms are quiet larger in size to accommodate 80- 100 students at a time. Green board, projector, fans are the facilities provided in the classroom. University matches take place in the month of January every year however the lack of opportunities for some sports makes it difficult for students to participate (eg: Swimming is not included in the university sports). College does not have clubs for the students.
Admission
MH- CET was mandatory and the cutoff was 96%tile for general category. Students with 50% in 12th standard from science with the group PCMB are eligible. The application form, fees structure and other details are available on the official website of the college. Teaching staff needs to improve its English communication skills. Students should be given more opportunities for internship and also exposure to the outer world. College should have clubs for extra curricular activities.
