UPES, a choice of option?

There was an entrance exam for the admission. The application form was available on the college's site and application fees was about 1500. There is a scholarship based on the academic results like jee mains result and +2 boards result. There is no transperancy though on the results of the entrance exam conducted by the university maybe they can look up into the examination process.

I choose this course to have a future in the it industry and to some extent the university is to the level of current industry needs. No doubt the faculty is very good and have a strong academic background but the student to the faculty ratio is very bad there are not enough good teachers for every class. Many teachers claim to have an IIT or NIT background. There are 2 main exams the mid sems and end sems other than that there are class tests which make up the internal marks and a student who's regular in studies can easily pass the tests.

I'm a freshman so I don't know much about that topic but the university claims to have a great connection with industries providing the internships and much more like international programs having tie ups with foreign universities.

The students become eligible for campus placements from third year. Companies take up students for internship from third year. Various companies visit the campus but most of them are mass recruiters. The university says the last year's placement percentage was about 98% but in reality this doesn't feel right. The highest package as claimed by university is about 50 lakhs and average is about 5 to 6 lakhs.

The university is for sure very expensive if we consider the overall fees around 5 lakh for academics and around 2 lakh for the hostel plus personal expenses which are seperate and according to that the return on investment is very less. The university provides scholarship for uttrakhand bonafides which is about 30% and other than that all are academic scholarships based on board results and jee percentile.

The university offers various types of student chapters and clubs taking up the responsibility of social and technical activities of the college. There's an annual fest named uurja which took place last month i.e November. Library facility is very good, large number of books are available in the library. The classroom infrastructure is average not so good though. Their are sports ground available but not surely open for every individual.

Hostels are just mess. No one's responsible or liable. Specially the mess is itself a mess. Students are treated very poorly. Their is no social life for students in the hostels. Overall the hostel Life is for enjoyment and memories but the authorities here are so strict that we literally feel like we are trapped in here.
