What Students Say
Likes
- Campus environment -- availability of drinking water .
- Ladies restroom was always neat and clean.
- Placements that came were really good, and the offer made to the students at that time was also affordable.
Dislikes
- Uniform-- I really didn't like it , even though we had to wear 4 times a week.
- You have to roam around the campus to find your class.
- Classes start at 8 in the morning, so should be prepared not to be late.
Course Curriculum Overview
At that time I was interested in becoming a teacher, so I chose this course. (Physics, Mathematics, Statistics). Faculty: student ratio is 7:200 for mathematics subjects. Almost all teachers were MSc, B.Ed qualified; few had done Ph.D.; and the last ones had just completed MSc. Lesson plans were perfect, as they used to complete the syllabus before the term. Amazing teaching by some teachers. Exams were held very timely and were hardly postponed. If you attend classes regularly then it's very easy to pass the exam.
Placement Experience
From 5th semester students become eligible for campus placements. Some of the Companies visited are- Wipro, Nestle, Cognizant, Capgemini, L&T, Sankalp, Deloitte, Infosys, and EY. The highest package back then was 5LPA by Deloitte( for a CS graduate after the interview). Nearly 20% of students get placements. My plans was to pursue a master degree so I didn't go for the placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
Well, fee hikes were about 1000 rupees every year. When I just enrolled (BSc 1st year) I got a C.V. Raman scholarship ( about 5000 rupees) based on my marks for class 12th.(84%). There was no other financial assistance. But companies will come to conduct campus drives when you are in your 5th semester.
Campus Life
The annual fest (Annual Day) was conducted in the month of March. Tech fests in November. There is a wide range of books- references, textbooks, journals, novels, and other general books which are available to any student once they have a student ID card and library card. You can also issue the books to take home for a period of 15 days. I don't think there were any amenities in classrooms. Sports activities-- cricket, kabbadi, badminton, table tennis, yoga, athletics. NCC and NSS volunteering can be done. Various value-added courses and certificate courses are also available.
Admission
Eligibility for the course was PUC 2 passed, or Class 12th passed. We could find the application form in the office. I think we had to pay 200 for application fees, before admission in the month of July(before the 20th day). Any further you would have to pay a fine, also you lose the choice of subject to choose once you are late as seats are limited. There are reservations for SC/ST candidates also for NCC/NSS candidates. The only improvement would be we were unable to pay fees online, at least for the 3 years I was in the college every year admission was to be done in offline mode. Moreover, for students who pass class 12th(CBSE), before admission, you must have an eligibility certificate from Karnatak University, Dharwad.
Other Applied Colleges
Karnatak Science College | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Mathematics)
I felt it was too leisure college, as if classes were not conducted properly.
