IIT PATNA: Isle of Learning

To gain admission to IIT Patna (or any IIT) one needs to have a valid rank in JEE Advanced. The councelling process is conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The admission form for JEE Main is generally released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in December.

I chose B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing course because of my interest in Mathematics and Computer Science. The student-faculty ratio is about 1:10. Almost all the faculties are Ph.D. with an interest in teaching and research. Exams are conducted twice every semester. It is not difficult to score well in exams if one is consistent in classes.

A lot of companies visit the campus to provide internship opportunities to students at IIT Patna. These include Microsoft, Bajaj Auto, Tata Motors, BSNL, NTPS, Wipro, etc. In IITs if you work hard you need not worry about getting internships. You will find one if you need one.

Placements at IIT Patna are the best. Last year in 2022 the median package for CSE was 40 LPA which was one of the highest among all IITs. Students got Job offers from Google, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft Research and many other companies.

The college has not disclosed the Fee Hike Policy yet. The cost to study is about 3,15,000 per year (including hostel, mess and other charges). Scholarships and Financial assistance are provided by the Institute. One can get a Fee Waiver depending on Annual Income and Merit-cum-means scholarship depending on performance and annual income.

The Annual fest of the college is Anwesha which is usually held towards the end of January or the start of February. It had a footfall of more than 30,000 students from more than 150 colleges across the country. Almost all the books which the students require are available in the library and good numbers. The classrooms are air-conditioned with smart-boards. Almost all the sports facilities are available on the campus (there is no swimming pool though). The sports fest Infinito sees participation from colleges all over the country.

The hostels are equipped with all the necessary and modern facilities like water coolers, WiFi and LAN ports, washing machines, microwaves etc. The meal quality is good. Students can decide the Mess menu. Hostel room is allocated on the day of admission itself.
