Remarks

The infrastructure I feel could be a tad bit better. Also, the location poses a few issues. If the location could be changed, it would be great.

Entrance Preview

DSC Admission Test and Personality Interview. A senior from college was already studying in DSC and had some powerful things to say about it!

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is upgraded consistently to keep it industry relevant. The good thing is that since it is a private school the upgrades do not take years but months. New futuristic relevant courses have been continuously added. Since our time I hear they have added some really relevant courses like Rural Communication, Digital Marketing, Television and Film Marketing etc. These combined with Advertising, PR and Marketing really open many opportunities for students.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, DSC is one of the few institutes to be offering an intense industry interface. Each student at DSC is placed for up to 6 months in the course, by the school via Internships and Apprenticeships. No other college does that!

Placement Experience

4.5

DSC comes out with an annual Placement Brochure and has a placement committee. Recruiters are invited and students sent for interviews. Some of the world's largest agencies and organisations hire DSC students such as JWT, Saatchi & Saatchi, GroupM, Edelman, Genesis BM and so on.

College Events

3.5

There are plenty of events like the Cultural Carnival, Farewells, Convocations ceremonies and the Events project in which one needs to organise a full-fledged event. The Cultural Carnival is a week long fest, celebrating global diversity. Music, song and dance are a part of various projects undertaken at DSC.

Fee Structure And Facilities

With regards to the value add, I feel the fee is totally justified. No complaints there! Considering the industry stalwarts who come and teach and the internships and final placements, it's great value for money. The only thing lagging is the location and the infrastructure, a little bit!

Fees and Financial Aid

In my time, the scholarship was limited. But now I hear, that the scholarships have been raised to around Rs 1,00,000/- for two years. Both at the time of admission and semesterly, scholarships are available.

Campus Life

2.5

This is one place where many girls outshine the boys, both in numbers and performance. In my time, the number of girls were 28 to 15 boys. It is a pan-India class, where students from all over the country come and study and diversity is celebrated. Students also come from all backgrounds - from Mass Comm to Engineering, the works.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

DSC does not have their own hostel. However, 50% of the class is from outstation and all assistance is provided in helping students obtain a good accommodation. But cafeteria is available with food available at very nominal prices. It's good homely food for students.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni are strongly placed and leading both agencies and Brand sides. One does feel connected when DSC comes up and both sides try and help each other.

Exam Structure

The exams take place semesterly. Plenty of value is given to internals, mostly 30% and the rest is via examinations. Presentations are very much a part and parcel of every DSCian's life. Your presentation skills really improve by the end of the programme.

Admission

1. DSC Admission test for 90 minutes 2. DSC Psychological Test 3. Personality Interview which carries maximum weight Incase any one given the CAT/MAT etc, they accept that score. Since I had not given any of those exams, I gave the DSC admission test. Thereafter the Psychological Test to cage a persons creative quotient and emotional maturity. But the main deal maker is the Interview, which carries maximum weightage. For admission to DSC, students have to clear either the MAT/CAT examination or DSC’s internal Admission Test. The DSC admission test is of 1½ hrs duration, focuses on basic reasoning, logic, and creative writing skills, in addition to basic knowledge of Advertising and Media. After that, a candidate needs to take a ½ hr Psychological Test, designed to assess a candidate’s creative writing skills and emotional quotient. This year, both the Internal Exam and Psychological Test are available online. Personal Interview is the third and final step towards obtaining admission to PGDPC.

Faculty

4.5

DSC is known for it's super faculty Infact the college overall takes great pains to get some of the best minds in the industry to come and engage with the students. One gets to learn from the best! Some of the biggest names in the Advertising and PR world from the worlds leading agencies such as Adfactors PR, Genesis BM, JWT, Band in the middle. GroupM etc visit the campus. The visiting faculty also pick up students for internships from class itself. Therefore, classroom becomes a great place to network and learn, both.

Campus placements take place after 3rd semester. But there have been times when students have been picked up by the Industry Expert during the session itself, if they were impressed by the student's performance.

The admission is on the basis of an entrance exam conducted by the college itself. The students need to clear the entrance exam in order to secure admission to the college. I joined the institute because of its reputation, but at least this branch of the Institutes is not at par with the Delhi branch.
