Course Curriculum Overview

3

I choose English Journalism because I am a news fanatic, I am interested to know what's happening in my country, and what my people think. I want to be great at storytelling, and Journalism really sharpens your skills. Our class strength was 70, and two academic coordinators were assigned who guided us throughout the course. Plus our godmother, the head of the department used to enlighten us throughout the course. Teachers used to amalgamate technology with their fruitful experiences. The teaching method was as bland as it could be. Ph.D. scholars and industry professionals. First-semester exam and second-semester exam, both of them were really tough.

Internships Opportunities

0.5

No internships were available to us. Only full-time jobs plus the only task we did was creating lab journals every month. The classes were as simple as any school class. The best outcome of lab journals was, that I learned to write creatively.

Placement Experience

4

Students become eligible for campus placements after the first semester results. Accenture, TOI, Business standards. Students from all campuses got placement and marks didn't matter that much. My plan was to get the job in which my interest lies, so I didn't sit in campus placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are so high considering it is a government institute. My course fee was 90000. Scholarships are provided to students coming from economically weaker backgrounds. Campus placement happens at the end. A total of 50 companies come with the average package being 300000.

Campus Life

3

The main fest is called Connections, which brings alumni together for one day at the IIMC, New Delhi campus. It happens in mid-April. IIMC has the biggest media library in India, plus every day new books are added. Apna Radio 96.9 FM is operated in IIMC, which provides opportunities for students to try their vocal chords.

Admission

Indian Institute of Mass Communication, a Mecca for aspiring mass communication students. The institute offers five professional courses covering all aspects of media. To study in IIMC, one should be a minimum graduate, and above the age of 21. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts CUET, which students have to qualify to get admission to IIMC. The test scores are evaluated and a total of four short lists are released. Usually, students with higher marks get into IIMC. The application form is made available by NTA on their official website, and it costs Rs.1000 for general, and Rs.500 for SC/ST students. 40% of seats are reserved for SC/ST and OBCs. The admission process isn't organized and as premiere institute the lack of professionalism by staff is infuriating. They need to hire better if they want to maintain the glory of this prestigious institute.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Basically the duration of course is 1 year on paper but in reality its only 8 months and the patern of teaching is too fast so if a beginner want to opt for this course think twice if you can adapt a languages at 2.5x speed go for it and if not you got your answer. Thats the biggest drawback of this course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty members consisted of renowned journalists. I chose this course because I always had a love for writing. The college strength was only 30 students selected from all over India. The teaching method was amazing with lots of practical knowledge. we had monthly tests and one final exam. The monthly test itself was quite difficult to pass.

To appear for campus placements, during my course period, there were not any restrictions as such. The placement drive happens in the month of February. Ours was a placement drive of a fortnight. We had companies like TOI, ABP News, Economic Times, All India Radio, PTI, Doordarshan coming to the campus and hiring for various positions. The highest package that was offered in my year was 20 lakhs, by Sony Entertainment, Mumbai whereas the average package offered was 3 lakhs. As told by the placement cell, the placement average was 75%. I joined AIR as the content executive for Social Media Cell after my degree. I worked with AIR for 3.5 years.
