Remarks

The management is good. It is prompt, professional and cooperative, heeding to students' needs and problems.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

No. Most of the course curriculum seemed jaded and cliched that were boring to study. The teachers were not too well abreast with the current developments around and biased political views were circulated. The syllabus has almost no use in professional life. Little stress on editing, proof reading and writing skills.

Placement Experience

3.5

The institute 'assists' in placements but doesn't guarantee a placement. So the campus placement system is not very robust. Four or five companies visit the campus and select very few students. Most of them also don't offer a good package initially. Students mostly try and find their own jobs.

College Events

3

There are very few festivals per se. There were debate and quiz and dance/drama programmes but hardly twice a year. They are in-house programmes which are held on the campus and enjoyed by the students and faculty. At times guests are also called from outside to perform.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The annual fees was just Rs 23, 000 which was very reasonable given the general cost of studying in Delhi. There is complete transparency in the fee-breakdown and there was no additional charges taken on any pretext. The payments are taken in two installments.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes the college had scholarship and merit grant opportunities as admissible by the government for scheduled tribe, schedule caste and backward class students apart from poor meritorious students varying according to merit ranking and family income criteria.

Campus Life

4.5

It has an healthy gender ratio, coming to 50:50 males and females of all economic stratum, language and culture from different parts of the country. There are regular workshops, cultural activities, study tours and hands-on journalistic experience through internships with reputed brands and visit of guest faculty members regularly.

Hostel Facilities

3

No. I did not take hostel room as only girls' hostel was available on the campus. There are many PG accommodations available around the college. There are also rented accommodations ranging between Rs 3, 000 to Rs 10, 000 per month depending on locality, space and food.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is very strong and spread across the world via various chapters. They are helpful in addressing problems of alumnae and placements.

Admission

The admission process is very fair and completely on merit. There is an all-India entrance test which is taken by almost 8000 to 10, 000 students for the 180-odd seats. The test is based on general knowledge and writing skills. Those who clear the entrance, go through interview by an expert panel before being selected.

Faculty

3.5

Nothing great about the faculty members. Most of them seemed slack and nonchalant. The students also didn't seem much interested or involved. Many debunked classes and often the faculty were on leave or missed the lectures. Visiting faculty were called often.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Basically the duration of course is 1 year on paper but in reality its only 8 months and the patern of teaching is too fast so if a beginner want to opt for this course think twice if you can adapt a languages at 2.5x speed go for it and if not you got your answer. Thats the biggest drawback of this course.

Students become eligible for campus placements after the first semester results. Accenture, TOI, Business standards. Students from all campuses got placement and marks didn't matter that much. My plan was to get the job in which my interest lies, so I didn't sit in campus placement.

The faculty members consisted of renowned journalists. I chose this course because I always had a love for writing. The college strength was only 30 students selected from all over India. The teaching method was amazing with lots of practical knowledge. we had monthly tests and one final exam. The monthly test itself was quite difficult to pass.

To appear for campus placements, during my course period, there were not any restrictions as such. The placement drive happens in the month of February. Ours was a placement drive of a fortnight. We had companies like TOI, ABP News, Economic Times, All India Radio, PTI, Doordarshan coming to the campus and hiring for various positions. The highest package that was offered in my year was 20 lakhs, by Sony Entertainment, Mumbai whereas the average package offered was 3 lakhs. As told by the placement cell, the placement average was 75%. I joined AIR as the content executive for Social Media Cell after my degree. I worked with AIR for 3.5 years.
