Course Curriculum Overview

5

This course is more practical than theoretical. You will have field work every week. You don't need to be a bookworm to excel in this course. You have very good knowledgeable faculties along with you who push you to perform better day to day. The teaching process is also more practical and can be related to society. You will have 3 internals (2 theoretical and 1 practical) for each semester. It's easy to get pass but at the same time, it's difficult to secure above 80 marks in each subject.

Internships Opportunities

5

You will be placed in various NGOs to do internships but mostly without a stipend only. You will be placed as a ground social worker where the learning will be a lot than in the classroom. Every week you will be visiting a new NGO and a particular NGO to which you will be going every week. When you complete your course you will notice a big change in yourself in your character, personality, maturity level and so on.

Placement Experience

3

From 5th semester students become eligible for campus placement. You have opportunities to get placed in various NGOs after completing this course. But only very few NGOs come to college for placement. You will be visiting 'n' a number of NGOs during your course of study. You can approach those NGOs for jobs. Also, you can ask help to your faculty to get you placed in a better job. The average package for this course will be within 2 lakhs per annum. My suggestion is to continue with another degree or try for some government exams or to start my own business after completing the course.

Fees and Financial Aid

It can be said that the fee structure is a pretty decent one. You cannot find a BSW course in an aided stream in MCC, it's only in self-financed scheme (evening college). So you can't expect the fee structure as in the aided stream because in the aided stream half of the fees will be aided by the government whereas in the self-financed stream, full fees should be paid by you.

Campus Life

5

Campus Life is excellent in MCC. Your days will be unforgettable in this college. You will be having many fest in this college and DEEPWOODS is the big event that will happen in the month of February. You will be having auditions for DEEPWOODS from the beginning of the college. In spite of this, you will be having department events, social work day celebrations, freshers' day, seminars, soft skill training days etc. Your classroom setup will be neat and lovely with a projector system. You have ample sports activities, scouts and guides, NCC, and MCC are known for extracurricular activities. You have a lot of opportunities to go to other colleges and showcase your talent. You will be well-recognised for extracurricular activities and sports at MCC.

Admission

One will have an interview for the admission in BSW in MCC. You must have completed 12th STD with decent percentage ie, above 75%. You can get the application form directly from the college by paying the application fees in the office counter. After submitting the application form, the selected candidates (intial selection will be based on 12th STD marks) will be called for the interview via phone.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because of the diverse curriculum. There are 5 faculty members for a class of 45 students. Most of them have done their M.Phil. The cohort is extremely diverse too. Exams were extremely easy, they were more application-based. Mr. Xavier Vivek Jerry's classes are something we looked forward to daily. His classes were extremely insightful.

After the 5th Semester, students become eligible for campus placements. I am in the 3rd Semester. So have not visited any companies yet. 90% of the students get placements. After I get the degree, I will opt for a Master's and will try for a job inside.

Placement Experience:

The college provides opportunities for campus placement only for the PG final year students. Companies like TCS, Nippon paints, Bajaj and many more companies come in for campus. There is no campus recruitment for UG students. But if the students are interested, they can join in NGOs or service sectors. When compared to placements, the students get placed in renowned institutions with 20K to 50K for freshers. Around 50% of the students get placements in PG. I wanted to be an HR in a renowned institution. There are a reputation and wide scope for social workers from this college.
