Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because it is the one that was closest to the field I wanted to study. Faculty members are around 8-10 and all of them are quite qualified. However, their teaching methods are a little questionable. Some teachers would just come to the classroom, read the textbook, and just leave. Term exams were very important and helpful in studying ahead of the semester exams. They were quite easy if we actually prepare for them.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements in the 4th semester. Some of the companies that visited for placement are Barclays, Deloitte, McKinley, Hewlett Packard, LNT, Accenture, Southerland, and so on. The highest pay was around 7lpa and the average package was around 3-4lpa. As far as I heard, 30 to 40% of the students in each department have gotten placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees amount was unbelievably high considering how the teachers don't even bother to teach everything. They sometimes just ask us to study on our own. Even though that's how most colleges are, we found it really unfair how pricey the fee structure was. However, they do provide scholarship opportunities occasionally. I got placed in hope with a 3.3 LPA.
Campus Life
The annual fest conducted in ethiraj college is called the 'Srishti' and it is considered to be one of the most anticipated events in Chennai. It is usually conducted in the month of March-April. Almost all the required books and answer keys are available in the library. Classrooms are also quite comfortable except for the fans that don't work occasionally. They conduct a number of sports and extracurricular events and the sports day is also very popular. The most active clubs are the Rotaract Club, red ribbon club, and citizens consumer club.
Admission
The admission process was pretty simple, we just had to apply online and they charged Rs. 500 for the applications. Then they released the selected list in batches. There were 3 batches in total. Eligibility is based on the cutoff marks. All the information regarding the application is available on the ethiraj college website.
