Remarks

Generally speaking, IIBS had more good things than otherwise. Infrastructure, faculty and practical exposure were sufficient to fulfill our expectation. It brought about considerable change in my professional approach. Though in-house faculty did their best, guest lectures could still have been more in quality & quantity.

Entrance Preview

Entrance exam at IIBS was smooth without a fuss. As I had studied commerce in my graduation, finance was a straight-forward option. I secured admission through IIBSAT by scoring requisite percentage of marks. In addition to the written test, there was also an oral interview with the board of selection.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

There is hardly anything to be critical of syllabus prescribed for us. As MBA course curriculum is recommended either by university or council for business education, we got to learn from syllabus which is uniform across the B-Schools in the country. It covered all aspects of management besides emphasizing on electives such as HRM, Production Management, Marketing Management, Finance & so on. In my opinion, we were trained on latest management concepts.

Internships Opportunities

I got an internship in an automobile company. There was ample opportunity to learn various facets of management. It was also complemented with an attractive stipend. But still I could have done more as IIBS had avenues for rich internship program. I believe most of such internship training could convert into regular placements.

Placement Experience

5

Generally, placement was good. Majority of the above average students got placed in good and reputed companies. Only a few had to struggle a bit more for placement in well-paying companies. Overall, IIBS placement wing strives its best to see that their graduates’ placement needs are taken care of.

College Events

4.5

Campus is a place for learning as much as fun & frolic. IIBS was no different. Education was the main focus. In between all of that, there were events that made our campus life all the more interesting –visits to notable companies, international tour to Thailand, adventure learning, management festivals. Of all the events, SURFACE (cultural festival at IIBS) was the biggest attraction.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Well, one can only wish the fees were little less than what is being charged now. But then, scope & aura of MBA is such that fees tend to be always on the higher side. However, compared to other B-Schools, it is okay & manageable. With an option to pay in easy installments, 7-8 lakhs is not so taxing on students.

Fees and Financial Aid

IIBS itself does not sponsor any educational loans to students. Students themselves have to arrange for loans with banks and other financial institutes. There are many such banks that are eager to offer loans at nominal interest. Despite this detachment, IIBS has a policy of encouraging bright students with certificate of appreciation.

Campus Life

4.5

I thoroughly enjoyed my campus experience at IIBS. The campus had on offer food teaching combined with extracurricular activities. We forged best ties amongst ourselves irrespective of our different background & states we came from. We were a harmonious batch of boys & girls, all of whom were eager to learn & excel in our academics.

Hostel Facilities

5

To me hostel facilities provided at IIBS were good. We were given cozy accommodation attached with basic furnishing. The entire hostel complex is peaceful and secured. The hostel had a canteen that served us food, which was hygienic & tasty. Different menus catered to students’ preference for their native food.

Alumni/Alumna

IIBS Alumni Association is an active form of ex-IIBS graduates. I found them very helpful in sharing their corporate experience with us. They also act as valid reference to employers during job interviews. I would definitely want more IIBS graduates to be part of this rich tradition & interact every year at Alumni Meet.

Exam Structure

Exams at IIBS follow a definitive time-table for all its 4 Semesters. Students are notified in advance of the exam dates. Students are assessed both in written as well internal mode. The general level of exam is a tough one requiring students to be studious throughout the academic session. Evaluation too happens at multiple levels meaning students’ answers are checked thoroughly before assigning eligible marks.

Faculty

5

The role of faculty is central to students’ success in academics as well as personality development. At IIBS, faculty was honestly trying to shape our progress. Some of them were highly qualified in academics as well as industry experience. Their commitment to students’ well-being was unquestionable. I only hope that it continues for betterment.

From third semester itself students are eligible for campus placements. College itself provides internships for students also helping them to cop up with their studies. Companies visited are, Cafe Coffee Day, Cothas coffee, Infosys, Biocon, HCL tech. Highest package they provided is 14 Lakhs and average is 6.5 lakhs. 90% students get placed, 5% students have their own family business and other 5% students start their own business. My plan after getting my degree is to get into one of BIG FIVEs, earn money, build connections for atleast a decade and than start my own business.
