Remarks

The college could improve its management of infrastructure and maintaining quality administration standards. the current administration is very sub standard and does not promote a healthy environment for the students.

Entrance Preview

I took NATA, CET, AIEEE exams for bachelors course and landed a seat in Dayananda Sagar Academy of Technology and Management. The college is located on Kanakpura road. The reason I chose Bachelors in Architecture over any other course is because of the freedom in design and the ability to create than reciprocate. that is one of the main reason why I chose B.Arch over other courses and also another reason being, one of my friend told me that there is no major mathematics in architecture so that was another reason I wanted to take up architecture course as my degree course.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The architecture course is a five-year course which is broken down in ten semesters each semester has 1 design project. The design project is broken down into major design project and minor design project. The major design project is like our exam and the minor design project is like our test. Hence the curriculum is very healthy and the syllabus is good. The only thing would be the system and syllabus would have to be updated to meet current industry standards and requirement.

Internships Opportunities

No the college does not provide internship as we architecture students are required to provide internship oppurtunities for ourselves and search for jobs ourselves. The general stipend is Rs.4500 in any company. Varies from company to company.

Placement Experience

2

The placement and job oppurtunities are good for the engineering students as compared to the architecture students as architecture students usually have a firm which they like and they intern and continue working in that firm itself. Whereas engineers need to get placed in a particular company and ensure they are working therefor a certain period of time. hence the job placement and opportunities are good.

College Events

2

The Main event which is celebrated is the sports day. The sports day is the main day where everyone comes together as a college and takes part in many games and activities organised by the sports committee .The main reason being all the students are encouraged to take part in sports and its extra activities. The next event is the intra college fest which happens once ayear and all the students have to contribute in one way or the other. Hence it s a very interesting way to bring all the students together and work towards making these events as a successful event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is pretty expensive. For anew college who should first cater to the students needs always seem to bring fees as the main play point which is a bit derogatory. the comedk fees are almost the same as the management fees which also does not make sense for the high fees price point. Hence the fees can be reduced to be more feasible which is currently expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarships available. But in our valedictory function they told that they would be opening up a new scholarship stream for the bright students and also loan facility is available at a minimal interest rate.

Campus Life

1.5

The campus life is pretty chilled out, not a major social life as the college is located on the outskirts of Bangalore hence not many places to socialize except for the college campus itself. The main place to socialise is the amphitheater in the college. The gender ratio is around 60:40 which is 60 boys and 40 girls that is a good ratio considering the ratio of the number of engineering classes and also the number of architecture sections in each department and also the size of each class varies as per their respective department. Extra curriculars is mostly cricket, football, basketball. Pretty good teams for the amount of time invested in it.

Hostel Facilities

2

The hostel facilities are good at the campus which is on the outskirts of Bangalore but the size of the hostels is very small to accommodate the huge number of students present in the college because the number of students in the college is almost 10 times the size of the hostel capacity and hence there is a real need to expand the hostel black and make it bigger for the hostel students to get accommodation. The hostel food is good but very simple and no variation in quality. The variety is less and can be improved in terms of quality.

Alumni/Alumna

We were the first batch to pass out from the DSATM college so we did not have any alumni but now we ourselves are Alumni so that is a good thing for us. The student network is good and willing to help out with any complications in any matter.

Exam Structure

The exam structure in the college is pretty goo for a few and pretty bad for a few. Because the college has three tests before the main exam and these tests are usually for 25 marks. these marks usually sometimes come only through the assignment and small works which the student has to do to get the marks or to obtain a pass mark.

Admission

The admission process was through a thorough and rigorous process of CET ranking, AIEEE ranking and NATA ranking, they see your scores and they rate your viabiltiy to take the course you have selected. The admission was pretty direct once the board of education grants a list of colleges where you can get admitted to and also provided the fee structure for the same.

Faculty

2.5

The faculty of the college could be assessed under the following terms: Professional: The faculty and the administration could be more professional in other departments. The architecture department could also have a small improvement in terms of the administrative powers for the HOD. Knowledge: The faculty at this college could improve on their knowledge skills as the students sometimes end up clearing the doubts as well hence the knowledge can be improved.

Architecture is completely a solo thinking work we can work in groups as well but if a structure is designed by a single architect then it has a taste of that particular person but if its a group then all will be mixed and have different kind of brains giving different ideas soo an individual can manage even if he doesnt get a placement

Course Curriculum Overview:

You'll indulge in a lot of painting and are related stuff. Well since Architecture is not only about art, there are subjects which will use up your brain cells. You also get to go to study trips too! The ride is not smooth- everyday would be a submission day , everyday would be a love-hate relationship with the course. Internal reviews, external reviews, viva and jury, presentation and assignments, written exams...theyre enough to keep you busy throughout. Since its Affiliated to vtu, the system does seem not so updated to date. You cannot expect to have a month of holidays after each Semester too. Dont dream of having a pleasant vacation break.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is more condensed that other colleges', so it makes it easier to tackle multiple things at once. The course prepares us for real world applications through their dual internship program, which is a strong point in their curriculum. If the course in itself had more real world applications, instead of very superficial ideas, it would be more helpful The exams are a hurdle, but it comes with the rigor of the course, and it is something students end up adapting to over the course of 5 years.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If you check with other colleges the approach to the curriculum is different and more fun. The process of learning is more fun and appealing making us satisfied of what we have done at the end. Sometimes we don't get how the teachers are expecting us to do our assignments but we figure it out some how. Exams happen twice a semester (mid-sem and end-sem).

Since our HOD changed this year, I'm not sire about when the placements are available, most probably would be for the 5th year students so 9th sem onwards. Not sur3 about which companies either, highest package would be 8000 I'm guessing, we don't get paid much. My plan is to switch courses, this was absolutely useless to me :)
