Kashmir Government Polytechnic - Know your college

* Eligibility - 10th Pass (with 40% for Open merit and 37% for other categories) * How to Apply - Keep checking the BOPEE website (https://www.jkbopee.gov.in/) for admission notification - Apply via BOPEE - Fill form - Pay fee - Download the acknowledgment slip - Wait for the exam date Prepare for the exam (as per the BOPEE syllabus) Appear in the exams and try to attempt maximum marks Reservation Benefits Reserved categories like ST, SC, RBA, etc have benefits as they have generally low merit, so out of 60 seats for civil engineering, 10 % are reserved for RBA and so forth Improvements wishlist for the admission process Normally you can not get links for admission and dates mentioned directly from the college website rather you have to rely wholly and solely on BOPEE There is no proper admission guidance from the college, and even if you visit the college campus, only some students voluntarily inform you about the process as happened in my case.

Why I chose this course- Well the main reason I chose this course is that I was excited to excel in my career in computer hardware, software, programming, etc I didn't find any better than this one.* Faculty - The computer faculty was not the best at my time - There were only 5-6 teachers for about 30-35 students - Only 2 of them seemed good at teaching - The prescribed teaching method was good but not everyone followed that - Some of the teachers were B Tech and one of them MCA another BE and one of them Diploma - Until now the teaching staff is still only 6 (checked from their website) * Exams - Exams were normally on time and easy to pass - As per the teaching methodology, the exams were a breeze unless you didn't attend classes regularly - Only issue I faced was keeping attendance above 70 percent no matter what the circumstances are, you must be present

* Fee - Fee is minimal as compared to other Polytechnic colleges - Normally there is no fee hike - The annual fee for the 2nd year is less than the 1st year and also in the 3rd-year the fee is further reduced - You'll get books from Library for almost 6 months (until your exam finishes) but you must return your books after your semester ends - This college is very low cost for a diploma engineering * On-campus hiring - There may or may not be an on-campus hiring event during the course, so job opportunities are few and you may not get a stipend either

* Tech Festivals - I don't know of any tech festival that was held during my course time - Normally events are being held but they have no specific time, events are held randomly * Library - The library is great in terms of the availablity of books - Normally students lend books for 5 modules out of 6 and return them after the exam is over, so there is no need to purchase books outside only in rear cases - You can exchange books anytime, and you can lend any book any time even if that book is not related to your course - Apart from books, there are tech magazines, newspapers, journals, etc which students can lend for hours to days * Classrooms - Classrooms are spacious and normally clean - Equipped with the latest technology - Furniture and seating arrangement look pleasant * Extracurricular activities - There is a big playground where students play cricket, football and volleyball - The playground is well maintained * Social groups - There are no social groups
