Remarks

Get yourself registered at the medical counseling committee at mcc.nic.in . After registering fill up the neccesary forms and submit the security fees. Fill up the college preferences as per your discretion keeping in mind that college will be alloted as per the order of filling up done in the preferences. Once you have been alloted AIIMS, Deoghar in the all India counselling rounds, you will have to show up at the college here in Deoghar. Bringing all the documents as mentioned in the aiimsdeoghar.edu.in website is sacrosant and your admission process would be very smooth and should be over within a day or two(the main work is though of hardly half an hour to one hour; a day or two mentioned is due to rush of other candidates). Things to be kept in mind are the medical certificate of the candidate must be in the same format as mentioned on the site. I had a few friends who had to redo their medical certificates just because they had in different format , the process is getting easy.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The academics of the college in as one would expect from an Institute of National importance. The faculties here are either from Aiims itself or from the top-notch state colleges with Fellowships from UK or US and there is not even an ounce of doubt in their proficiency. The classes are mostly of interactive type, there are group discussions presentations and tutorials. The lectures are also very open in respect to doubt clearing keeping in mond the neccesary atticates as expected from a student in a professional course. The schedule of the exams are provided around the starting of the session and that is strictly followed. The exams dont get postponed whatever may be the reason. Most of it make it through the exams. The questions asked are not that tough that they cant be solved even after a thorough understanding of the concepts. A review is taken of all the faculties in that professional year at the end of the year and the highest rated faculty is felicitated by ED sir.

Internships Opportunities

4

A compulsory internship has to be done by all individuals to get the degree. It is the part of the curriculum and there will be rotations into different wards at different times. The pay at any AIIMS os around 22k per month and is expected to rise in future times as per the orders from the respected Supreme Court.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees here at AIIMS sum to around 5560 for the whole duration of course( a sum of rupees 10k is also taken during the time of admission as security deposit which is completely refundable at the end of the course). A seperate mess fees is applicable if you are taking their services which accounts to around 108.5 rupees per day. Scholarship programmes are there for students who belong to SC categories and the registrar updates the students via mail notifications. Other scholarship programmes are not directly scholarships but you may get some money if you are doing an ICMR project for which the professors are more than happy to be our mentors. That gives you around 30k rupees as a research capital. Apart from that there is no other campus jobs known to me.

Campus Life

2.5

The annual fest of the college is the 'HELIX'. It is a festival at the first week of September full of- sports such as javelin throw, short put, cricket tournaments(although matches were called off due to bad weather), badminton tournaments, discus throw.Indoor games such as chess, carrom, table tennis.Cultural events which include dramas, skits, fashion show and a lot more.A musical band is also called to bring the zeal of the festival to new heights. The second year is the organizing batch of the festival and the events thus are selected by them. The cricket ground, basketball ground are under construction and will need some time to be completed. The swimming pool is also being constructed although it is to be completed in the later on phases. The completed buildings are the academic block(included the lecture theatre, labs), the ayush block which is currently functioning and the OPD and the IPD( one wing is constructed among the four wings). The library facilities are yet to be availed

Hostel Facilities

5

Talking about Boys Hostel 1(BH1),the rooms provided are single rooms(the rooms to be alloted to the new batch may be shared ones- two people in one room). The hostel provides a bes with matress, chair and table with a cupboard. The hostel is 22 floors high and the new batch is expected to be accomated in floors 15 and beyond. There are a total of three lifts in the hostel in which one is of 25 people capacity and other two are 10 people capacity each. Air conditioners are not yet permitted to be kept within the hostels. Water cooler is present at the mess-which is at first floor and fourth floor. Water purifiers are installed at all the floors. There are three wash rooms and three bathing rooms at each floor and each floor has 12 rooms. Wifi routers are installed upto 8th floor but are yet to be functional due to some issues within the administration. The mess provides 'just edible' kind of food. It in not extravagant and high expectations are not to be places there.

Course Curriculum Overview:

-The MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) program is a highly sought-after degree that prepares students for a career in medicine. A key aspect of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose this course is its emphasis on integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. The inclusion of subjects such as anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathology provides a strong foundation for understanding the human body and its functions. Furthermore, the clinical rotations and internships allow students to interact directly with patients, giving invaluable hands-on experience. The curriculum is well-structured to equip students for real-world medical practice and further academic pursuits. Clinical postings in hospitals and exposure to different medical specialties enhance problem-solving and decision-making skills. The focus on research methodology also lays the groundwork for those interested in pursuing postgraduate studies or contributing to medical advancements. However, there are areas where the MBBS curriculum could improve. For instance, introducing more interactive teaching methods, such as case-based discussions and simulation labs, would better prepare students for complex clinical scenarios. Additionally, integrating modules on soft skills, such as communication and empathy, could enhance patient care. Exams are frequent, usually held at the end of each semester, with assessments ranging from theory papers to practical exams. While challenging, they are crucial for assessing a student’s knowledge and clinical aptitude. However, spreading out exams and providing more time for preparation could reduce stress and improve performance, ensuring a better learning experience overall. Cons are course length and also the difficulty level.
