Entrance Preview
I took the CAT exam and had scored 83 percentile. I chose this option because it was amongst the top 30 colleges in India and was highly recommended by friends, family and alumnus.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was limited but covered the basics. All the mandatory subjects covered the basic concepts and the optional electives were more detailed. Since I had option for a specialization in HR, my subjects included manpower planning, labor law, organisation behaviour and design and organisation development.
Internships Opportunities
We have very few companies visiting for internship. Religere, HDFC, Wipro were some of the companies that were offering internship. None of them gave any stipend.
Placement Experience
The placement was fairly decent. It was the year after recession had hit and opportunities were limited. Some students were not placed even much after the placement season. About 70% of the batch was placed and the package was not as high as promised/expectation when we joined.
College Events
The college organised a variety of events which included technical as well as cultural events. The organisation mainly depended on the student committees formed as the management did not spearhead these events. The events during our time had fairly good participation as the students were very enthusiastic and looked forward to such events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure in 2008 when I joined was feasible and value for money for most of the students. I completed the entire course (non-residential) within 3 lakhs which was less than half the amount that other colleges were charging for the same course.
Fees and Financial Aid
There was no scholarship/loan facility that I knew of. However, there was a student exchange program which was very good.
Hostel Facilities
The college only provided a boys hostel. No accommodation was provided to girls and we had to make our own PG/hostel arrangement. The average rental during that time in and around the college area was about 4000-6000 per person per month. The college had a small canteen which was homely and catered to very basic needs. However, quality of food and service was below average.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network at IMDR is extremely strong. It is mostly through this network that the college is able to manage placements. Our interactions with the alumni have always been helpful and comforting.
Exam Structure
The exam structure was not too hectic and papers were well spaced out. A lot of weightage was given to projects.
Faculty
The faculty was tenured and experienced. We had few visiting faculty from the industry itself which helped in giving a better understanding of the subject with relevance to current market practices.
