Entrance Preview
I wrote PACET and did fairly well. Currently it is irrelevant since Nata is the entrance that is required instead. I opted for it since it seemed a mix of play and fun compared to JNTU which seemed too academics oriented.
Course Curriculum Overview
Obsolete curriculum, could have been more hands on and informative on the practical front. It were barely helping in the development of the real world sense.
Internships Opportunities
There was no internship from colleges' end with professors hiring us or directing us to known architects but as a part of the curriculum we had to train under an architect for 4 months for which we would have to find mentors on our own and make applications for the same and get confirmation on it within a certain deadline. The stipend ranged from Rs0- Rs18000.I suppose depending on the mentor.
Placement Experience
No, There was no such concept of placements and we had to struggle really hard to make applications to firms with exams, submissions and national competitions on simultaneously. As if multi tasking was not enough there was bare support from the college on this front and they only prodded us for urgent submissions even if they could organize things better to let us some time for the applications. The job opportunities were decent but the pay was always an unhappy story.
College Events
We religiously participated in NASA annually and were quite enthusiastic on the cultural front too. We also has a decennial celebration for the college and a Secunderabad 200 celebration which was celebrating 200 yrs of Secunderabad. There were regular farewells for the leaving batch annually by the preceding batch and the freshers party was almost always called off by the Principal and the money collected for it from the students would also be taken away from them by him for no good reason.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure was around Rs27,000 and another Rs10,000 in the name of caution deposit which never exactly comes back. Of late I hear they have raised the fee manifold and the approach has become extremely commercial.
Fees and Financial Aid
There were no scholarships or loans provided for students. Students had to fend for themselves and had no other choice or concession. If students did not get in through merit then management seats were even more gruelling with its fee in lakhs.
Campus Life
The campus life was fun for my batch since my seniors were interactive and helpful which they were also into harmless ragging that only helped improve the rapport. The sterness of the management only got the student community together in the face of unreasonable treatment by the college administration. The girls to boys ration must have been almost 4:1. People came from diverse backgrounds some aspiring to be good architects and some taking up the course for reasons such as family among other things. There were no extracurricular activities except the NASA competition for which the students made time for on their own without any mandatory push from the college.
Alumni/Alumna
There is no real platform for such a concept at CSIIT except the facebook network. Most of my seniors are helpful people but not in the sense of how an alumni network works.
