Remarks
I have mixed bag remarks about the college management, they took in very good faculty members and developed a good course content, but the management mainly runs real estate business they are very much profit minded and so the college in a bid to increase revenues ensured that quality takes a back-seat. The college takes students even without a valid CAT or MAT score and mainly has a very good tie-up with CAT/MAT coaching institutes who misguide students and portray the college to be one of the best in the region.
Entrance Preview
I gave CAT and scored 84.99%ile and gave MAT and scored 96.6%ile i choose Unitedworld because of the faculty profile mainly because for any management course what you learn is more important than placements as career is something you can always make either with placement support or without i also choose UWSB because of the curriculum of the course and industry-interface it offered.
Course Curriculum Overview
The focus is good overall but a detailed analysis is given below, Relevant to industry yes, Industry interface yes, very much focus on practical learning some what case studies not up to the standarde simulated learning no activities and clubs not much.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, it did provide internship opportunity to almost all students of the batch companies like Hindusthan Unilever, Godrej, Sony, Khadim's, BOC also take part in the internship process most companies coming for the internship process are from BFSI and FMCG sales domain overall my internship was a good learning experience for me in hard-core sales with an FMCG giant most companies didn't provide any stipend during the internship period.
Placement Experience
Around 60% of all the students in my batch got placed. Mainly BFSI, Retail, Education sectors were represented in the placement process most jobs offered were entry-level in sales executive positions some of the companies who came to hire were: India Infoline, HDFC Bank, India Bulls, Magma Fin Corp, The Chopras Global Education, Naukri.com, Khaitan Group, Edusoft, TATA AIG Life, Standard Chartered Bank and many more small companies offering insurance sales profiles average salary package was 2.4lpa lowest was 1.6lpa and highest was 3.25lpa. Standard Chartered offered 3.25lpa, The Chopras offered 2.5llpa. HDFC Bank offered 2.02lpa, Khaitan offered 2.5lpa etc.
College Events
Events like Fresher's day, Managment Day, Independence Day, Christmas etc were celebrated with big fanfare management festivals happened once every 3 months where lot of group activities, presentations, negotiations etc were done all such management fairs were pretty big affairs and all students had to participate in them they were good team building exercises for us, and good learning exercises as well.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee for the program was 6,00,000/- payable in installments i consider it to be feasible, but the ROI considering the average salary package is very bad most students got a salary of around 2lpa, so it would take them around 3yrs to recover the course fee and many went for bank loans, which would add more pressure on them.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no scholarship on offer, the bank has a tie-up with Oriental Bank of Commerce for loan facility. But getting student loan is a hectic process most banks refuse to pay educational loan and the college authorities give loan related documents only after payment of admission fees, so its a catch-22 situation for students who wants to avail of the loan also, its a big challenge for outstation students to avail bank loan.
Campus Life
Campus life was fun-filled, gender ratio would be 3:2 in favour of boys students mainly came from Bengal, Bihar, Orissa and North-east students also came from convent education mainly as well as from vernacular medium schools there was hardly any extra-curricular activities to talk about as there was no sports or debates there was one quiz competition, and other Management development programs.
Hostel Facilities
There is no hostel or mess facility available with the college students can stay at nearby nayapatti area where one would accommodation at around Rs 2000 on a twin-sharing basis and with food it would cost around Rs 3500 for single sharing with food the cost would be rs 5000-Rs6000 the above rates are for non-AC rooms and rooms come with a bed, table, chair and a wardrobe.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is good and strong, they helped with study materials and idea-generation during difficult projects. They also helped during the placement process by giving our references to their organizations. We have a strong alumni network and we regularly also help our juniors. Much of these initiatives are through social networking and not promoted by college.
Exam Structure
It was very hectic to say the least every week there were some or the other exams and surprise tests assessments were far too many to anyone's liking assessments were conducted in very strict environment as well most days were very hectic, fun and games were very limited.
Faculty
The faculty members were really good. Most of them used innovate techniques and real-life case studies to help us understand concepts. Few faculties relied on bookish materials only and to be honest those classes were not much interactive. Faculty members were qualified, most had done PhD in their respective subjects and some came with 15-20yrs of industry experience as well more than their degrees it is their own experiences which matters more.
