Remarks
I did my B.Arch. from IIT Roorkee only and in the last years i started preparing for M.Arch. entrance exam. The grand entrance of the institute is one of the main eye catchers for the audience. A desired candidate needs to clear GATE exam and the PI round as per the admission pointers. Due to the pandemic, my application was done online. Application fee is Rs. 300 for the general category and Rs. 150 for the SC/ST category.
Course Curriculum Overview
In an IIT structured course, more emphasis is given to the practical part as compared to the theory ones. I spent most of my time working in the labs completing my drawings. Our professors are highly educated and with experience of teaching more than 13 years. Faculty members made sure that we were taught keeping in mind the latest techniques and trends in the field of technology.
Placement Experience
More than 147 companies made 632 placement offers. 214 pre-placement offers were made to the students and the highest CTC went to Rs. 1.8 CPA (domestic). Highest International CTC was Rs. 2.15 CPA. Alphonso, Amazon, Analog Devices, AppDynamics India Pvt. Ltd., Bajaj Auto Ltd., Codenation, Cohesity, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, Intel Technology Pvt. Ltd., Jaguar Land Rover, JPMorgan Chase & Co., Micron Technologies Operations India LLP, Microsoft, Oracle participated in the placement week.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee for this course is very reasonable and ok. The amount is Rs.45750. I don't think any kind of scholarship or loan is required here but still students who come from weak financial backgrounds can avail one scholarship from the following - James Thomason Scholarship, SC/ ST/ PH Scholarship. These two are for M.Arch students. More choices of scholarships are available for the B.Tech students.
Campus Life
Pandemic practically ruined my campus life. Instead of living on the campus for 2 years, i could stay for only a few months. Majority of the events were cancelled in the starting and some of the important ones were conducted online on the platforms like google meet and zoom. Cultural committee of the institute also did a YouTube live show casing the talent IIT harbors and nourishes.
