Remarks
The admission process was quite simple compared to other colleges with tedious procedures. First of all, you have to visit the site of the university (www.mgkvp.ac.in) then the entrance portal. Once you opened the site go for the graduate entrance section and apply for MSc statistics. The eligibility criteria are also quite simple, you just need to be graduate with statistics as the main subject in your final year. The admission process of the university starts mostly from the last week of April but due to the pandemic, the admission process has shifted. Last year the registration for the course started in June. You can find the tentative dates on the official site aforementioned. Since there aren't many people applying for MSc statistics the university doesn't take entrance. After applying for the course if you are eligible you can directly go for the counseling process. Since I took the paid seat I had to pay an amount of Rs 7000 but you can get normal seats for just Rs 3000.
Course Curriculum Overview
Going for MSc statistics was a quiet and easy choice because there is a lot of scope in the field, less competition, and a lot to learn as well as earn. As for the faculty-student ratio, there are nearly 15 students per class which means more interaction with the faculty and a lot of personal attention. Most of the faculty in university is well qualified and has a decent style of teaching, yet since the time we shifted to online teaching it's a bit hard on both the students and faculty because on one side the teachers are finding it difficult to adjust with new system and technologies while on the other had students are missing out on classroom teaching benefits. Going to the examination process next the syllabus is almost completed on time and the tentative date of exams is yet to be decided.
Placement Experience
Well, there is no campus placement for students in MSc statistics here but there is a lot of scope in the field. And you have many options in the stat field if you are a post-graduate. As far as I am concerned I am either going to do MBA or join a firm.
Fees and Financial Aid
One of the important factors that are definitive on whether we would take a college or not is the fee structure. The fee structure of a college is a very important factor in a country like India where the majority of the population is middle class. In my experience studying at this university is very affordable because I got the paid seat in mere Rs 7000 while you can get the normal seat in just Rs 3000.
Campus Life
As a matter of fact, I got to spend very little time on the campus since the university closed once the new variant of the corona was identified. But as good as I remember the infrastructure of the university is quite good. Can't say much about the environment in university but most people looked friendly.
