I am average in studies and I secured 58% in 10+2 I did not want to appear for JEE because I was aware that I would not score great marks to qualify for good colleges like IITs in India. So I was looking for a good private college with a good engineering program, good education standards, and good placement. I came to know about the VELS Institute Of Science And Technology during my research. VELS is ranked 5 among the top 10 private engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu. VELS is popular for its engineering program and good faculty ratio and standards. The college perfectly fits according to my preference and to be part of the college I have to appear for the VELS entrance exam on campus and IO should have a minimum of 50% marks in my 10+2 from any recognized board. I passed the entrance exam and after qualifying for the entrance exam I have to appear for the PI round with my documents. The admission process of the college is very smooth.

The curriculum is as per the latest industrial norms and standards. The curriculum is designed to enhance our analytical skills, decision-making skills, develop our thinking capabilities, etc. so that we can understand the AI system and machine programs easily. The college provides us ample opportunity for the research work also under the guidance of the concerned faculty.

We are eligible for an internship program after completing 3rd year of our program. The college placement committee helps us to select companies for internships. The internship program is optional if we want we can skip but frankly, I suggest that we should opt for an internship because the college placement committee invites good companies like Infosys, Wipro, etc. It gives us the opportunity to know about the corporate world. It is not necessary that we will receive a stipend in some cases there is no stipend for an internship.

The college has a good placement record. The college placement committee is very professional and helps us and guides us throughout the placement process. They make sure that we are placed as per the company and student's requirements. The packages are not so high but not too low also. The highest package for our batch was around 16 LPA and the average package was up to 8.75 LPA. Around 75+ companies visited the campus during the placement program. Companies like IBM, HCL, Microsoft, Revature, Fomra, Thermal Engineering, Tablets LTD, Amazon, Flextronics, Infosys, Wipro, etc visited the campus during the placement drive of the college. I was also very fortunate to receive the package of 12 LPA.

The college offer scholarship on a merit basis. The college conducts the scholarship admission test to grant 100% scholarship during the admission process. The ambience of the campus is very positive and life here at VELS is very good. The college organizes various events like Hackathon is the biggest technical event. Pongal is also celebrated with lots of fun and happiness. The college infrastructure is well maintained. The college classrooms are well maintained and very spacious. The college library has many books from all types of authors. The laboratories are well maintained and equipped with all kinds of modern tools and features.

The hostel is well maintained. The hostel rooms are available on sharing basis. There is no ragging in the hostel. The wardens and the hostel staff are very professional and supportive. The mess food quality is very good. The menu comprises veg and non-veg food. The hostel is equipped with 24 hours of high-speed WiFi connectivity. The hostel provides us with all kinds of modern facilities and amenities according to our comfort.

The faculty of the colleges are of Ph.D. level from top-notch universities of India and abroad. The faculty are very helpful and they properly guide us. We can easily approach the faculty of the respective subject to clear our doubts and they are also ready to help us out. The college never compromises with the quality of the faculty. They are the guiding force of the college.
