Pt JR Government Polytechnic College

The college environment is very good. I got admission to this college in the year 2017 after I completed my matrix. I opted three year computer engineering course in this government polytechnic college. The total strength of my class was 85. The application form and all about the important dates for admission is provided in the department office. Approved by AICTE, Affiliated with PSBTE & IT, Punjab. Teachers here are too supportive, not very lenient with students but neither too strict. The education provided in this institute is also too good as compared to other private colleges. 5 diploma courses are provided here namely computer engineering, electronics and communication, plastic, mechanical, electrical engineering The First 6 toppers get scholarships too and fees favour is also provided. As we know it is a government aided college so reservations for Sc/St students are provided too. Blood donation, NCC, NSC camps are associated with the teaching staff and students.

Duration of course: 3 years. A total of 60 students is allotted in a classroom. Students get admission through lateral entry too after 12th or vocational education. I selected this course due to my interest in computer science as well as I heard a lot about this institute from my father cause he studied in this college years ago. First year is all about applied science subjects, from 2nd year computer science subjects begin. The course is divided into total of 6 semesters. In starting of the third year we have to do an internship and projects are completed by students and submitted on time. 2 projects are made by students, one minor and one major project.

In the fourth year, various local private companies like O7, Techpoint, Step solution provides unpaid internships but a lot more to learn. Fees were also not as much as compared to other private companies. I enrolled in 2 weeks Core PHP course in O7 company and learned basic skills there and made a website too on my own. Certificate was provided too.

At the end of the course, placements are provided by the college. Various companies like Wipro, Escon, Maruti Suzuki, HCL, Sonalika etc provide offers to the students. The student with skills got placed easily in best companies so I suggest focusing on the skills not only your percentage. As corona cases started severely in 2019, I and my batchmates didn't get campus placement but many of them got placed through off campus placements.

I got a CM scholarship there which was based on my 10th class percentage. My percentage was 89.7 so I got 90 percent off in my fees, I paid only 5000 for one semester at that time. Fees waiver scheme is provided too by the college. As I topped in the first semester, get rewarded with the scholarship and paid only tuition fees which were 1000 rupees only.

Annual functions are held in the college in the month of March-April. Students take place in Youth festival too. I participated in gidha and solo Punjabi dance in a youth festival held in khooni majra and Patiala in the year 2018 and 2019. All types of sports are there in the college like football, badminton, kabaddi etc. The official website of the college is ptjrgph.com.
