Course Curriculum Overview
This is by far the best Journalism college in India. There are esteemed journalists and academicians as teachers or guest lecturers. There are periodical exams to test your knowledge of the course. However, the practicality of journalism and the daily mock activities the course offers makes one feel like a journalist even while studying.
Placement Experience
The campus placement is very active. They make sure that not even one person is left unattended. They also train students for interviews and tests. The Print, Radio, TV, and New Media students, all have plenty of opportunities to get to where they want.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got placed at Times Now in the output desk. The placement system is very active and the professors make sure that everyone lands a job. There was a collaboration with BBC during my tenure in the college. We could also apply to study Journalism abroad with the college partners.
Campus Life
There are multiple workshops and a good morning Chennai mock that works almost daily and the job is to run a 24*7 news channel. There are discussions with multiple teachers and the head journalists in India and abroad. The students play Badminton and Football as and when they get time. There is also a Table Tenis table and carrom inside the campus. The library is full of all the books one can possibly need. The classroom is well equipped with a camera, ppt, and good seating arrangement. There are advanced machines and cameras to help one get familiarised with the real world.
Hostel Facilities
The hotel life is the most amazing part of the process. You get to share life with the most brilliant people from different fronts and share their life for ten good months. We eat, share, study, and work on the projects together and in the evenings we go to the beach to discuss life's existential crisis.
Interview Experience
One has to face a five-member panel during admission. They ask questions about your academic background, the politics of the nations, international relations, literature, etc. They ask particularly about the geography and politics of your state and of South India.
