Entrance Preview

For PhD entrance, there is no examination. Interested candidates are required to submit a Research Proposal which is scrutinised by the Doctoral Committee. In case the Proposal is shortlisted, the candidate is called to make a brief presentation before the Doctoral Committee.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The Course structure is good and involves a great deal of focus on research. As part of the scheme of examination of the pre-PhD course work, the Doctoral candidate has to make a presentation in each subject and also clear the written examination in each subject at the end of the course work period.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is not available at Doctoral Level. However, I am aware that Jamia helps to arrange internships for Undergraduate and Post Graduate students in the offices of Senior Advocates, trial court lawyers, statutory bodies and tribunals, LPOs, Legal Cells of different organisations and in corporate law firms. In addition, students are also placed for judical clerkship in the offices of Judges.

College Events

4.5

There is an active calendar of social, cultural and co-curricular activities that is followed in Jamia. The academic environment is vibrant and there is large student participation in all these activities. The calendar is usually packed with activities like debating, moot courts, guest lectures, skits, cultural festivals, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure of Jamia, including the fee structure in the Self Financing courses, is extremely reasonable and compares extremely favourably with the fees charged for similar courses by other private institutions located in Delhi/NCR. For the PhD course, the fee that was charged was around Rupees 3,000 per annum.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have not availed to any scholarship or loan during my study at Jamia. However, I am aware of the existence of many Merit-cum-Means scholarships that Jamia offers. Some of these are meant exclusively for women students. Student loans are offered to students of Jamia by leading banks.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is reasonably good, though a lot more work can be done in this direction. Steps like instituting Chairs, Gold Medals, a vibrant alumni website, etc can be good starting points in order to better harness the energy of the Jamia alumni.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty was mostly good. They possess relevant experience in the subjects that they teach. Supervisors play a crucial role in guiding / shaping research at PhD level and my Supervisor was always available for course correction, at all times. The library is well stocked and the administrative staff was, by and large, cooperative.
