Entrance Preview

Actually no entrance examination is need to join BE in Tamilnadu since the cutoff of 12th has to be taken. I scored 195.5 in board exam and choose Government College of Engineering Salem. Which is my dream college since the placement is nearly 99% at the time when i joined.

Course Curriculum Overview

I choose ECE (Electronics & Communication Engineering) which is the top one among all. The course duration is 4 yrs which contains 8 semester. The overall structure of the course is very good since it starts with the very basic level in 1st semester and ends with the research level i.e Project in the 8th semester.

Internships Opportunities

There is no internship program in our college but they offer many opportunities by In plant training in semester holidays.

Placement Experience

The placements are very good at the time i joined i.e 99% but it is slightly decrease afterwards of around 85%. TCS, HCL, Infosys, etc in IT sector and Robert Bosch, Checktronics, Tech Mahendra in core sector are regular companies with very good package of around 3 Lacs per annum initially.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very feasible when compared with the other private colleges since it is fully owned by the government. Around Rs.6000 we paid as the semester fee, apart from this paid exam fee which is Rs.150 / 200 for each paper which is also applicable for lab.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, Scholarships are available to all students excluding OC students of around Rs.3000 to Rs.4000. And also educational loan is provided by the college.

Campus Life

Since our college is co-education, many guys or girls can easily overcome the hesitation who studied in boys or girls schools. NCC, NSS, Workshops, Sports, Cultural functions etc are conducted every year. And there is no politics in the college except few department guys show their guts in front of the girls.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, our alumni are working in many large organisation like BEl, BHEL, TCS etc and they are oftenly contact our college placement coordinates regarding placements. And also Alumni get together is happened every year in the college.

Exam Structure

It is one of the college in our state which has separate lab and department building for each department. The course contains 8 semester along with 3 / 4 labs in each semester. And also the final semester is completely project. Even though we did many mini projects.

Admission

After the board exam, the Application notification released before the publish of 12th result. Then after applying using the cutoff which we got in 12th. The rank assigned by Anna university is released and the counselling date also. At the time of counselling, we have to choose the college according to the seat available at that instance.

Faculty

There is very limited number of faculties in each department when i studied but now there is enough number. Even though the number is limited they arranged many guest lecturers to overcome that situation. And also the teaching of the faculty is extremely good since they are very well experienced.

Placement Experience:

After 6 semester the students are eligible for all the core and it placements. For us the core companies are Capgemini tech pub(32), sopra steria(5) and boeing . The highest package is 8lpa and average is 5 lpa Out of 100 55 students are getting placed each year. I got placement in Capgemini and I am working on Capgemini.

Is VIT worth it

Placement Experience:

Placements in VIT UNIVERSITY is very good the average package is 8 lakhs and the Highest may go upto 1 crore every year.There is a separate placement cell in VIT chennai and they give you placement training from start of the third year. Many multinational companies like google, microsoft etc comes to VIT to pick students for their company. Almost 98 percent of the students gets places in VIT. After my degree I choose to sit for placements.

I chose this college because I am a resident of this city Salem and wanted to be a day-scholar. This college is also NAAC accredited with A+ grade and also stands as the higest graded government engineering colleges in the whole state of Tamil Nadu. The transport facility for reaching this college is also easy for me as there is availability of college bus which goes around the city to pick up the students i.e. the dayscholars all around the city. I didn't get any rejection from any other college because I got this college in my first round of counselling itself and so did not go for any other options and was not rejected by any. I have got admission through TNEA. The only way to get admission to this college is through TNEA. The official website is there for TNEA and we can find all the details like the application form and others on this website. In this exam, there is a priority for sports quota. Also many benefits for first graduates and also for handicaps. Through this exam, we can get admission to many colleges under Anna University if we have the eligible marks. The admission is based on cut-off marks only. There is no way for cheating or bribe. After the lockdown period, the TNEA exam was taking place online which was very beneficial for people far away from Chennai. First, we have to apply for the TNEA exam.
