Remarks

College management is rough and needs a brush around the edges. I guess I went there during their golden age.

Entrance Preview

I took the Punjab PMT 2011, I didn't clear it but I got a good rank based on my +2 grades. It was a little tough owing to the reservations. The college is in much demand. While it was under Dr Kapoor many preferred it to even govt colleges like Patiala and Ludhiana.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Excellent. At par with DCI regulations. However, the standard of education now from 2011 to 2016 has dwindled. There's no part missing. The theory is excellent. Clinical work experience will differ for each student depending on his own will and volition. The college has no part to play. There aren't very many patients so it may be tough to stay motivated to learn at times.

Internships Opportunities

Yes. Internship was good. The stipend payments were a little erratic but whenever we were paid it was honest and complete. We were posted in all areas including rural and medical sides. We got the chance to attend many camps and were able to develop experience of working in paucity.

Placement Experience

4

As in all dental colleges, there is no direct placement but, Dr Jaidev, Principal is considerate and gives opportunity to freshers if they have a good academic history. Again, payments of stipend may be late, but it is always honest and in full. Sometimes the payments are via cash and at others via bank transfer.

College Events

4

There is one fest a year. That's the sports plus cultural event. It was really fun last year, with Diljit Dosanjh performance and some other excellent stuff. There were many competitive activities too like sports and others like saladmaking etc. It was good fun!

Fee Structure And Facilities

I'm from batch 2011 so fees was good. Very affordable. 1.5 + college fees per annum. Overall it was about 1.9lks. rest expenditure was pocket money and the money spent on instruments and materials. Canteen has good food for a day scholar like myself. Bus facility was a lil costly at roughly twenty five thousand.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships offered to students who have good marks in 12th and are on gvt seat. No college specific loans.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is fantastic. Crowd was good. Gender ratio was a lil heavy on girls. Labs sports and completions are held once a year as a part of sports day. During Feb or March. The tolerance in regard to background is excellent. There is absolutely no differentiation. The staff are equally caring and the studnet reflect this attitude.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel was good. I'd rate it a 3.5 on 5.. and food dental canteen is just awesome. The complex had some good stuff too until the management botched up. Mess food is good too. I would eat at the boys mess on occasion. Girls were pretty happy with their food too. They had breakfast lunch dinner and one snack in between.

Alumni/Alumna

There's no such official network but, being a passout I'm sure I'd be happy to help juniors and others needing more information or planning to join.

Exam Structure

Excellent exam structure. Twice a year exams, along with regular tests. Mid terms and sendups help to prepare properly. The Anatomy department deserves the hats off in this respect for taking so many tests that I had registers dedicated to them. Dr Gaurav from Ortho during his tenure ensured several tests per month for orthodontics as well.

Faculty

4

They used to be one of the best. We still have good staff but the management could be better. Dr Gurminder deserves special mention as the most skilled prosthodontist I've seen. Dr Sanjeev Jindal from oral medicine is dedicated to classes. Dr Govind has outstanding experience and his lectures were enlightenment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to do this degree since I was in 12th class. I wanted to be a doctor either by doing BDS or MBBS. This curriculum of a degree prepares well for the real words so that we can start our own practice, but you have to be willing to learn if you do not learn in your college properly. Then you might have to learn from outside, but it prepares you well for the real life. The exams are held once at the end of every year and the difficulty level of exams is moderate to high, so you have to study very seriously if you want to pass with good marks After the theory exams, they take the practical exams and there is equal mark distribution between theory and practical, and you have to obtain 50% marks for passing

The B.D.S alone in itself is not that fruitful due to surge of dentists in India. Although, if one can set private clinic and can run it it's a wonderful career. Certain basic things are limited for MDS students although they can be tought to the BDS students too.

Course curriculum is not well oriented by the officials Things we need to know for doing patients are not well taught bcoz that's is what we need for MDS (post graduation) so they donot teach them now Which is wrong So according to me Clinical stuff and practicals should be more concetrated on instead of theoretical study There need to be a mid term exam conducted likewise in MBBS for better preparation Proper test which are not regularly conducted should be there Teachers need to be hired Posts for teachers are vacant Teaching staff needs to teach students instead of pgs
