My Review on ICEM, Parandwadi, Pune.

I applied to this college only because it's cut off score for MHT-CET exam was near about my own score in the same exam, I was not eligible for any good colleges in Pune or Pimpri-Chinchwad limits. Frankly, there are no strong and good points to suggest this college to anyone. College is situated in Parandwadi village, from Pimpri the distance is 21 kms one side, the transport facility provided by the college is worst, the placement cell has given up on jobs related to Mechanical field, the college stresses more on submissions rather than actual Teaching-Learning process, many of the practical setups are under maintenance. Lastly, if you have to do Engineering anyhow, that too near Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities, then ICEM should be your last option.

The Mechanical Engineering department in my college has only two to three good faculties which taught the respective subjects in full depths. All other faculties are only interested in finishing off the semester anyhow. Mostly all faculties are ME qualified, some have completed Phd while some are pursuing Phd. The faculty to student ratio is 1:40 for each subject. The term exams were never taken timely, it was always a rush, the department activities never went according to normal schedules which other colleges follow. Passing was very easy in these college level exams.

The college only provides internships to students belonging to Mechanical Sandwitch course, as these students are required to complete 1 year of work in industry as per their curriculum. As I have not done this course, I don't have any idea regarding the roles and stipend offered in the 1 year internship / job profiles.

Generally, students become eligible for placements after entering final year. But many of our friends in Computer Science department were allowed to sit for placement rounds during final semester of third year itself. Companies which came for placements were - Vanderlande, Neilsoft , Anglo Eastern , Enpro , Foesco and Hettich. Many of these only took initial exams and never disclosed our results. The highest package offered to a student from our department is of 3 lpa for Sales profile. Atleast for this year, only 2 to 3 students got placed from our department consisting of 120 students in the final year.Personally, as I have not received any campus placement, I will be trying to do PG (ME or M-TECH) from some reputed institutes in Maharashtra.

The fee structure changes every year. The important point is whatever fees yoy pay for taking admission to FE, the same amount will be your fees for the remaining three years of degree. Example : When I took admission in 2017, my fees were 97,217 while the ones taking admisison in 2018 had fees above ?â_ 100000. Scholarship opportunities are given through EBC, TFW schemes. As usual, the fees amount varries according to the student's category, this is according to the guidelines of Savitribai Phule Pune University. For Mechanical Engineering students, there are no placements, you may be allowed to apply and sit for companies belonging to IT or sales sectors. I have not recieved any campus placement related to my core branch.

The campus itself has not been maintained properly, all of the three small grounds on the campus are not maintained, but still many students are able to adjust to these grounds. The colleges has it's teams for sports like Football, Cricket, Kabbadi, Volley ball. Apart from this, there is a well maintained indoor games zone containing the games like chess, carrom, table tennis, pool.There are many events taken on college and department levels during semester ends or starts consisting of various technical and non technical competitions.Books and Journals are very much available, the college has one nice big central library and small department wise libraries. Students can take books from any of these libraries and have to return it within specified time frame.All the departments have their own websites, for Mechanical Engineering department, the HOD itself has created one google site named Afu.

The admission criteria is only based on your score in MHT-CET exam. Some students have taken admission even on the basis of marks obtained in JEE Mains exam. There are no Group Discussions, no interviews or separate written tests for admission.
