K.G. Joshi College of Arts & N.G. Bedekar College of Commerce

I only applied for this because of it's the distance from my home was ideal and also it is an 'A' grade college. There were many quotas available for admission but I didn't avail any quota as I was in a general category. There is no age limit for admission to this college as there were some people 7-8 years older than me in my batch. Also, the minimum marks for admission changes every year, in my case, it closed at 88% for commerce background & at 58% for science background students. The admission process is very simple, you just have to fill the college form with all the details they ask for like a percentage in the previous year, etc, and wait until they release the admission list in which names of students who got admission are mentioned. The number of lists is usually up to 3-4 depending upon the availability of the seats. If your name does come up on the list the last way to get admission(which I did) is to get admission from the management quota. Here they ask about 1-2 lakhs for admission and amount changes.

I chose BMS because I was interested in business though I have a science background (11-12th). There are up to 60 students in each class with 4 divisions, so total it's 240 students. Professors and teachers are highly qualified and teach in a very professional manner. As I shifted from a science background(11-12th) to commerce, they have a separate division for us where they used to give more attention to commerce subjects like accounts, etc which was new to science students. Exams were properly timed, along with other colleges and papers are of moderate level, you may get fail or pass depends on your level of study.

The internship provides by the college are very much less. They hardly provide 2-3 internship opportunities. Even if you get an internship there is no guarantee that it is paid. You have to do it for free. As for lockdown situations, the task given in internship is mostly of online stuff, physical work is almost negligible.

Students get placements only after completing graduation. College provides placements but not all students get it. The percentage of getting placements from college is quite low according to the number of students. The packages are also not much because it's only a graduation degree, so doing a master's degree or post-graduation degree is highly recommended for better packages.

Fees are divided into two parts, college fees and admission fees which are 19293 & 1900 respectively. The total fees are 21193. You can give fees amount at once or in two parts. Many scholarships are given from the college's side for lower-class families.

Here, crysalis is a huge fest where all the students even from other colleges take part. There are other fests too. The crowd here is mainly Marathi. The library is great here and almost every book is available. They have canteens for students and for everyone. Collage takes for IV every year to different places.
