Remarks
After obtaining my graduate degree from the School of Open Learning and having completed my Chartered Accountancy course I decided to opt for a PGDBA in Finance specialization from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning(SCDL), Pune. I never applied for any quota for admission because my percentages were good enough to fetch me a seat in my desired college. In order to get admission for a PGDBA course in SCDL, the graduation percentage was checked along with the 10th and 12th percentages. There was no age limit for enrolling in a course in the college. It was a distance learning course so there was no counseling of any kind.
Course Curriculum Overview
I always wanted to pursue a distance learning course after completing my Chartered Accountancy course because I was working as well. So I opted for SCDL as I got the freedom to choose my exam slots as per my availability and at the same time, I was able to manage my job. We had 17 subjects in the entire course duration and 17 assignments of each subject and a project at the end. The faculty was less as compared to the number of students in a batch as the class strength was more than 30 and the faculty members were 12. Each one of our teachers was well-qualified and was well-versed in their subject. There were virtual classes of every subject and we used to study online in group sessions. The teachers used to teach us from Powerpoint presentations. The exams were held once each month. There was an 80 minutes online exam at the respective examination center allotted to us. The exam contained multiple choice questions on the subject. The level of exams was exam and it was not tough to pass the exams.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees for the course were Rs 35,000 per annum which was not so high. The duration of the course was of 3 years. There was no fees hike in any of the years of the course. I did not get any scholarship but I passed in A division scoring 79%. I got my first job off-campus.
Campus Life
When I was doing my BCOM I got an opportunity to attend my full-time college which was Maitreyi College of the University of Delhi. I had to leave it after 2 months to pursue my internship training of 3.5 years which was required in the Chartered Accountancy course. When I was in my college days life was fun. We had a freshers party on our college premises and the chief guest was famous makeup artist Shehnaz Hussain mam. I also attended a fest in Hansraj College called Confluence Fest held in the month of February every year. There was also a library in the college premises where books of all genres and all academics subjects were available for students of all age groups. I used to take home a lot of good books to read. The classroom had all the amenities in them. We had an Air Conditioner in each class which helped us stay cold even on warm sunny days. There was a sports class held per week where we were taken to the school sports club but there were no social groups there.
