Remarks
I appeared for the JEE after 12th and get 50130 AIR with 95.5 percentile. With this I was not able to get admission to any well known NIT so decided to go for the counselling of the Rajasthan state govt. Colleges through REAP. Through the REAP first of all the students are ranked based on JEE score for the whole state in which I got 423 Rank all Rajasthan. Now I had to select a college Preference and REAP will allott me one According to rank. In the first round, I get Govt. Engineering College Ajmer is my 2nd preference. I went there and reported with my all documents and paid the fees for the first sem. Then after coming back from Ajmer, I decided to go for the second round that is the Upward Movement round and in this round, I got selected for my First preference i.e. MBM Engineering College Jodhpur. Now I went there and again reported with all documents and took admission in the First sem but I don't have to pay any fees as it will be transferred from Ajmer College to Jodhpur College by REAP.
Course Curriculum Overview
I had an interest in Automobiles so I prefer to select the Mechanical branch over Computer Science. The mechanical branch of MBM is very well reputed as it was established in 1952. The faculty student ratio is 1:5 as total seats in the Mechanical branch are 70 and there are about 6 senior professors and 8 lecturers from Tequip faculty. Most teachers hold PhD in core mechanical subjects from IITs and NITs so yes professors are very much experienced and best in their field. End term exams were not that much Timely as they were late because taking exams is the responsibility of the University i.e. Jai Narain Vyas University in our case and they always take exams a bit late than the academic calendar. Exams were average according to the question paper as most of the questions were from previous years.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are offered by companies as well as under the guidance of professors. It completely depends on the student's ability to gets selected for internships. Projects depend on the branch specific as projects depends on the branch. My internships are covered by Siemens as I am getting their Scholarships in which I have completed an Internship on projects related to Mechatronics, PLC Programming, Highway wind turbine etc.
Placement Experience
From the 8th semester, students become eligible for placement. Companies visited - HCL, TATA, Wipro, Oracle, Vedanta, Infosys, Adani, Aditya Birla groups, Ambuja, REIL, Metacube, Skilrock, TCS, HSL, Byjus, Aleppo, Adani. The highest package was 22lac. And the average package offered is of about 4-6 lac according to branch. As I was selected by Siemens Scholarship Program so I will have the recommendation letter from Siemens which will help me in placement and Siemens can also offer me a job at the end of my degree. The percentage of placement depends entirely on the branch like Mining has 100% placement. So overall Placement Percentage of college is about 35-45%.
Fees and Financial Aid
Being a core branch, seats in Mechanical are GAS i.e. Govt. Affiliated Seats so fees are very low only 15315 per semester as compared to Computer Science because its SFS i.e. self financed seat 30315 per semester. You have to pay the same fees for the rest of the 7 semesters same as the 1st sem. There is no any fees hike policy. At the time of admission, you have to pay fees for the first sem + 7500 caution money that you can get back and the end of your course. In the first year, there are a lot of scholarships available that you can avail being in a govt. College. For eg. NSF scholarship, Sumedha Scholarship, Yashah Sumedha, MBM alumni etc. In the first year, I applied for Siemens Scholarship Program and got selected. Now my whole fees are paid by Scholarship and I get 30000 extra as allowance for the whole year along with internships from Siemens.
Campus Life
Ony got to attend 3-4 fests that took place in the first semester from August to January which were Encarta, Abhipray, Inovarious, Splash. After that lockdown took place and no fest since then. Approximately all books related to the syllabus of all courses from B.E. to M.E. are available in the library along with Magazines related to current affairs. Classrooms are well furnished in Department with smart boards. But the classroom for the first year is not that much Tidy and clean as they are organised in the different buildings called LTH which are maintained by college authorities which don't pay that much attention. Sports events, Tournaments, cultural fest, Tech fests all were organised in the First Year. There are so many clubs like kalakar, Sargam, Codchef, Dancing, Robotics, etc. A whole App named MBM E-learning App is designed by students for juniors so that that they don't have to search for books and syllabus anywhere as all books are available on the App for all 4 years for every branch.
