Remarks

I went through a CUCET 2019 firstly. You'll probably get allotted to a bunch of colleges through online counselling later as per your rank in the entrance. There are 3-4 counselling rounds. After counselling, you have to report to the allotted college where they will check your documents and will declare whether you are likely to get admitted over there or not. Eligibility for CUCET: 55% aggregate in 12th (any stream). Must be 17 years of age or above.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Law is undoubtedly the most reputed as well as an interesting field to study. I personally opted for BALLB as I wanted to get into this from the very beginning. There was no question to apply for other law courses which will probably take 1 year extra to complete. Our college offers other courses but they are not as promising as this one is maximum faculty are very generous and helpful towards students. You can ask for their help anytime for anything not just academics. Also, almost all have graduated from prominent law colleges in India. Regarding exams, I can't say much because my maximum exams were held online due to COVID. There was an irregularity in my 1st and 2nd-semester exams due to improper guidelines circulated by GOVT but right now it's fine. Basically, there are two internal exams and one final per semester i.e., every 6 months. You can pass these pretty easily but the difficult task is to score best.

Placement Experience

2

It's a new college so I don't know much about the placement cell but there is a number of employment opportunities after course completion- You can do LLM too, Enrolling as an advocate, Judge/ Magistrate, Pursue MBA. Company Secretary, Litigation Lawyer, Public Prosecutor, Crack UPSC, Law Clerk, Banking Sector, Corporate Lawyer, Quality/ Legal analyst, Chatered Accountant, Legal officer.

Fees and Financial Aid

It's quite low as compared to other colleges. This is a university college, so basically there is a number of circumstances where your fees can be deduced than the original fees. Well, I don't have much proper knowledge because I was not eligible for such scholarships as my financial condition is quite good so if any candidate has a fine financial background like me, you won't be able to apply for need-based scholarships but you can apply for merit-based scholarships. Also, you can enrol in a number of scholarship programmes if you are from West Bengal but there are very few scholarships for outsiders.

Campus Life

3.5

There are two campuses- Tollygunge and Falta. I have attended both these campuses so I would like to explain them separately. FALTA- It's located in a rural area, not much connectivity is available. It's good if you are not from Kolkata as this is the campus where you are probably gonna get hostel facilities. Campus's huge. The library is also good, you'll get a number of good books. They keep more than one copy too so if exams are there you and your dear friend won't face many problems in issuing the same book. Moot Court available, TOLLYGUNGE, Not much huge but multi-floored, Maximum good faculties are here, Class activities are well maintained, Air-conditioned. This campus is in Kolkata but there's no hostel facility instead you get a bus facility so you can take that from whatever place you're residing. Maximum goodies happen here. The library is the same as the one in Falta. The same's the case with the moot court.

Hostel Facilities

3

I lived in Triple sharing room. You're gonna get the following: a mattress (pillows too), A bed, A Cupboard. It's not good as the double-sharing rooms as you get study tables and extra storage too. You get attached bathrooms whatever kind of room you live in, so that's the best part. You don't get mess here, there's a common kitchen at the hostel where you have to cook your own meal (Don't worry it's huge, it's not like you will get late for classes waiting for your chance to cook, there are 4-5 double stoves at each kitchen and kitchen is there for every floor). Enrolling on a hostel is quite easy, the procedure will be completed as soon as your admission process is completed.

Students in their last year get offers for jobs from university but students are not getting job offers as they excepted.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen B.A.LLB(Hons.) because I want to have knowledge of law because laws form the basis of society. Moreover, I had an Arts Background therefore, it was a good combination for me to explore and go according to my desired path of career. The count of faculty members of IILS is an approximation of 20-30 teachers and the students each semester is near about 70-100. The teachers are truly well versed in their respective subjects and they're immensely knowledgeable and friendly, they try hard to make us understand in the easiest manner. But the only problem is that the faculties are not permanent, it keeps on changing. The term examinations were always on time except for the lockdown time but this was also managed smoothly within time. In order to know the difficulties I would share a fact and i.e., when I took admission in my Institute there was a total number of 140 students in my semester but no sooner than the first exam held half of them failed and now we're 70 of us.
