SHUATS AT A GLANCE

Firstly the admission criteria were 60% of aggregate in all subjects. Secondly, there was an entrance test conducted. And then was the admission process. There was total of 9-10 steps of the process including admission form verification, 12th pass documents verification, fees submission, hostel allotment, etc.

I chose B.Tech CSE because I wanted to become a software developer and I knew I could pursue it as I have a good knowledge of computer. Now, about the faculty: student ratio, there are 35 students in my batch and approx. 6-8 teachers are appointed to teach them. The faculty are very qualified and have a great knowledge of the subjects they teach. They try to make us understand the subject in the easiest way they can. Term exams are conducted in June and December and these exams are moderated, neither too hard nor too easy.

From the 7th semester, the students are eligible for campus placements. The top recruiting companies are HCL, Infosys, Hindustan Construction, Tech Mahindra, ITC, Parle etc. The average salary package varies from 2-6 Lacs per annum. More than 50% of the students were placed in companies like Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HCL etc. I want to be placed in a good company and increase my skill.

The fees for a semester in B.Tech CSE course costs 67000 as college fees + 3500 exam fees + 235 insurance fees, a total of 70735. The scholarship opportunities can be availed through NSP (except for HINDU) and the Christian students get the scholarship directly through the college, if someone is critically poor or their father is not alive, they also get the scholarship and financial assistance. Teachers can also help students in getting financial assistance by providing concessions in the fees. I am currently in 3rd year now so I did not get any campus jobs.

The annual fest is conducted in February. Many of the books are available in the central library as well as departmental library excluding some of them. The classroom is like a small hall kind of, with fans and lights (some working) and some benches. There are social groups and clubs that students run by themselves like the clubs of Bihar and Jharkhand, etc.

The hostel room has 2 beds, 2 tables, 1 fan, 1 bulb, wall mounted almirah. In addition, you can bring your own table fans or coolers if you need them. The quality of the food provided is not too good but worth eating. They provide non-veg food 5 days a week. In the breakfast, they give Dosa, Rotihsabji, Chola-Bhatura, Bread-Pakoda etc. In the lunch, there is rice, dal, sambhar and a veg sabzi, In the dinner, they give veg and non-veg food 5 days a week. For the registration of the hostel, you have to fill a form and pay the hostel fees. For the first time at the time of admission, there was a rush so the allotment was done accordingly but afterwards, you get to choose the room you want to stay in.
