GATE, Score- 693. I wanted to do a Masters post by B.Tech in Electronics engineering. IIT Bhu offered the course I was looking for and has best in class faculty and infrastructure. Placements are also one of the best.
Course Curriculum Overview
The structure of M.Tech is a rigorous 2 years course, consisting of subjects, labs and one final year research project. The first year consists of a total of 12 subjects, 4 labs and one minor project in the second semester. The second year focuses completely on the Final research project.
Internships Opportunities
IIT BHU provides internship to students from abroad universities as well as Indian regional colleges, IITs etc. The internship duration is of 1 yr mostly depending upon the project topic and scope. The Masters students and Doctorate students are given stipend of 12k pm and 28k pm respectively.
Placement Experience
The placements in BHU are good with mostly Software companies visiting the campus. Amongst core companies HUL, Unilever etc came in our batch. Software companies are Google, Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft, Adobe, Eko, Works applications and the list goes on from big MNC giant's to mass recruiters.
College Events
BHU culture is extremely vibrant with a stream of technical, cultural and sports events round the year. Mostly the cultural fest, new year DJ nights, Sports fest are celebrated in the winters. The technical fests for cross and inter departments are held in the summer terms.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is pretty affordable for bachelors, masters as well as doctoral students. The Masters students in my academic year (general category) had to pay 15990 k per semester for academic and 7k per annum for hostel charges. Mess fees are payable separately on a semester basis.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship is provided to exceptional students in B.tech and Masters. SC, ST and OBC students are provided additional waivers to the course and hostel fees. Bachelors and masters students are referred to universities abroad by the professors. Phd students also seldom visit national and international conferences, internship programs.
Campus Life
Gender ratio is extremely irregular with approximately 15:1 for boy to girl. This is the average ratio for the institute taking into consideration all departments. Robotic competitions, debates, events etc are a regular affair in BHU. There are seminar halls, sports grounds for cricket, football, volleyball, badminton, squash, Table tennis, lawn tennis, swimming pool and the list goes on.
Alumni/Alumna
BHU has a well connected network of alumni and senior students. We maintain a separate page on social networking sites such as facebook, twitter etc and have our own webpage as well. Any internship, placement opportunity are mediated through these pages.
Exam Structure
The exam structure is pretty rigorous and hectic, consisting of 3 phases of exams per semester. The last phase was main sem exam with labs. The lab curriculum is pretty rigorous too with 2 lab sessions per week. Other than that students can access labs outside lab hours as well for their projects etc.
Faculty
The faculty of Electronics engineering department is one of the best in BHU. Especially Communication Systems, Signal processing, EM theory, Antennae theory faculties are one of the best among all the IITs in India. The HOD Dr. S Jit is very supportive of all the Research, Masters and Doctorate students.
