Remarks
I was supposed to give an entrance exam which is conducted all over India for my program. According to the eligibility criteria for the exam, the student must have a minimum of 60% marks in PCM/PCB in the 12th standard. Further admissions were based on the result of the entrance exam according to their ranks. There were 60 seats in total. Since I am a general category student I haven't applied for any quota. During our counselling session, we were supposed to submit some of our required documents and fees for admission.
Course Curriculum Overview
Basically, I chose Integrated Btech- Mtech/ MBA in Biotechnology as I was highly interested in the subject and on top of that as the programme was integrated I have had an advantage over my graduation and post-graduation period. I learnt that the faculty in the department was highly qualified and experienced. Every single faculty is qualified from highly ranked universities/Colleges. We have mid sem exams and final sem exams in each semester which takes roughly half a year. If one pays attention in class and studies well then passing these exams is not a big deal.
Internships Opportunities
As much as I know in my department teachers refer students to IGIB, DRDO and Pusa etc as trainees or interns. In the final semester of MTech in biotechnology, students are supposed to work on a minor project under the guidance of University teachers and there is another one called a major project for which students can take the guidance of faculties or professors from other colleges or universities.
Placement Experience
In the last semester of the course, students can apply for jobs. Companies do visit the university and even students get placed but as I heard till now the average packages were 4-5 lakhs although some students were there who were placed at an average package of 10-12 lakhs per year as I heard.
Fees and Financial Aid
When I took admission it was 49000 per semester but for the succeeding batches, it has significantly increased. There are some scholarships that are availed by our university- UP scholarship, caste based scholarships and even the top ranked students are encouraged by scholarships.
Campus Life
Every year our university organizes the annual cultural fest Abhivyanjana in September/October and an annual sports fest Shauryotsav in February. Other than these many other techno fests, food fests such as Dawat-E-GBU, cultural fests and youth fests are also conducted from time to time. Apart from these, there are many events which are organised among the hostels and various departments. It is considered one of the largest libraries in Asia and of course, it avails numerous types of books and journals. University has numerous sports and stadiums for the same from an indoor stadium to a number of separate courts and stadiums for different sports.
Hostel Facilities
We have single rooms for each student with one bed, a study table, bookshelf, side table and a steel cupboard in 30000 per year. On the meal menu, we have 4 meals a day with a variety of food. Hostels are compulsory here.
