Remarks

I had a wish of completing my graduation in a government college(as government colleges provide better placement opportunities) but unfortunately considering my Jee rank, I couldn't get enrolled in a government college. My desired branch was Computer Science and Engineering. When I got into SILICON Institute of Technology, the first thing that I experienced was the heartwarming gesture of all the staff and students there. That was too overwhelming. My jee rank was around 4 lakh so considering that, the silicon academic authority told me that I will not be getting CSE as my branch rather I will be given admission to ECE. The reason was ,in order to get admission in CSE branch in Silicon, students need to score at around 2lakh to 3 lakh at least, but they gave me an offer that if I would score more than 9 cgpa in my first year then I'll be transferred to my desired branch. That was my goal then.Their admission criteria too included that you must have scored at least 60 percentile in your 12th.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The faculty and staff in Silicon are too good, to be honest. The academic profile of SILICON is well known all around. It has given maximum gold medalists of BPUT. But now considering my batch,it is now AICTE accredited.CSE faculties are very friendly and offer you with extra time in order to clear doubts if any. Considering the student-faculty ratio it could be 3:1. The faculties are way too educated and qualified in their respective fields. Not exaggerating, but the quality of teaching in Silicon is considered to be best as compared to other exams. The term exams were dated timely and if you study in silicon, the first thing that you must keep in your mind is that you will not get a chance to cheat in the examination for sure. So if you don't study it will be a kind of difficult to pass the paper. There will be 5-6 teachers in one examination hall along with 4 CCTV cameras.

Internships Opportunities

5

Once you are in your 4th year and have enrolled for Practice School in Silicon, then you're going to get a bundle of opportunities for paid internships. For practice school, your Cgpa should be more than 8. So if you are planning for any sort of paid internships, you should definitely need to focus on your academics for the first three years of your BTECH career.

Placement Experience

4

CSE sees 90 percentile success in placement activities.ECE around 70 percentile and EEE around 40-50 percentile. The major companies that come every year are TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, and a lot others

Fees and Financial Aid

Silicon is affordable as compared to other colleges in my viewpoint for the quality of teaching it provides as well as the opportunity it gives. Now for thr upcoming batches, the fees have hiked a little bit for installing more technical features in the college as well as renovating hostel rooms. In silicon,in the last year of your career, you will be provided with tremendous paid internship opportunities which will have great importance to your resume.

Campus Life

3.5

Honestly, the annual fests are not that crazy. They are extremely decent functions. Coming to the library, Silicon has a vast variety of books with an excellent library facility that helps students to prepare for any exams they want. Silicon has a lot of clubs in order to make students' lives on campus worth living. There are music clubs, social work clubs, academic clubs, technical clubs, robotics clubs, art and craft clubs,as well as clubs that will look after the hostilities. The main hub of Silicon is the Skylab where students sit enjoy their cup of coffee and gossip with their friends, sing songs and whatever fun possible.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel isn't that fine to be honest. The wardens are really nice and they take care of the student's records pretty well. But sometimes it becomes way too strict which is disliked by the students. Considering other things, the hostel is kept neat and tidy. The room in which I lived had 3 beds,3 study tables,2 ceiling fans,3 almirahs, and a balcony. They have other rooms as well where 4 students can share a single room.I was in 3 sharing rooms. The registration process at Silicon hostel is pretty simple and the fees were around 36000 rupees at that time,it must have hiked a little now gor improving the quality of the rooms. So during registration, I was provided with a form to fill in(parents' signature is required too),then I had a sign an undertaking. The canteen facilities at Silicon are all mixed up feelings for me because they provide an excellent menu for breakfast and lunch but an extremely bad menu for dinner.

Our college give good placement but packages are very low package start with 150000 and end in 700000 . But you study properly then you try pursuing higher studies. 40% students placed but below 400000 . after completing you try off campus placement then you secured good salary on good company.

the placement is also not that much great. they are very few companies TCS and Infosys are the mass recuriter here . The core companies are close to null . So you have to go to only to the IT companies that to at a very low package . My students work for as low as 2.5 lac per annum . This year almost everybody was between 3lac to 10lac bracket . The highest on campus package are about 25 lac . Not more than that most of time. and the average package is almost about 3-4 lac per annum . The percentage of the students placed is also really bad . Most of the students have to hurdle by himself.
