Remarks
I wanted to pursue masters from a recognized government agriculture or horticulture university. The weather is awesome, the university is established in the temperate region also I was clear about my goals and this university provides me with the perfect environment for studying.
Course Curriculum Overview
Courses are run according to ICAR ( Indian council for agriculture research) pattern. Faculties give their best to make us clear about topics. We do research in masters. There are not many faculties available for entomology but the ones who are there for us are the best. All the faculties are PhD. Question paper is always the toughest one. Sometimes, We get failed just for one mark. They prepare us for the competition and they treat us in the same way.
Internships Opportunities
NAHEP projects are being undertaken by the university. Students are allowed to do an internship in mushroom cultivation. Students can also work under various SRF projects. The internship program doesn't occur regularly but with the need and requirement of people. College is providing jobs to most of the villagers.
Placement Experience
There is no placement provided by the college. Most of the students prefer to prepare for agriculture or horticulture jobs. Some go for PhD. Many choose to start their own business with agriculture like beekeeping, dairy production, mushroom cultivation, lac culture, floriculture etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
As per the ICAR, our per semester fee is just 19130 including hostel and other charges. There is rarely some hike in the fee. Students who come through ICAR seat get full scholarship plus there is the scholarship for agriculture background students and reserved category students. There is no campus placement.
Campus Life
Only fresher and farewell is held there. Various webinars, presentations are held timely. The library is well equipped with books for all departments. Books other than course are not available there. Classrooms are facilitated with projectors. No sport or extracurricular activities are held as the University is situated in a very backward area. No clubs are run by students as the students are always busy with their courses and research work.
Hostel Facilities
Three sharing, two sharing or single sharing rooms with clean washrooms are provided. Students are allowed to use heaters and other appliances. Mess is run by the students so students decide the menu by themselves. The registration process for the hostel is done during the admission procedure. Students are not allowed to stay in rented rooms. The hostel is compulsory for research scholars.
