Remarks

Overall the efforts put in by the HR faculty in adding value to the course by having regular intervention & workshops is brilliant. Students have developed behaviorally, on both personal & professional fronts, which is the most complex & impact full contribution any education/training setup can provide.

Entrance Preview

I cleared Welingkar through both CET & CAT. I opted the MMS course through CET(now CMAT) for obvious benefits like less fees & the recognition as a degree.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure for MMS-HR is fantastic. The structure for the 4 semester, with the 3rd one being full of relevant HR subjects allow the student to prepare for the placements effectively. Welignkar also has regular workshops, for both PG & MMMS, to allow students to learn about industry practices.

Internships Opportunities

While the college does provide support for internship, there is a lot of variability in the stipend / overall experience. The faculty however does conduct rigorous workshops to train students, and also facilitates mentoring relationships to ensure the internship exposure is really fruitful. PS: A Student from every batch since 2010-12 has gone on to win Best Summer Project in multiple competitions across the country.

Placement Experience

4.5

Welingkar has a good brand name and is able to leverage the same across various domains & specializations. For the HR branch, Welingkar can boast of a couple of International placements and/or CTC packages of 10+ LPA. Typically, Welingkar does manage to attract good brands like L&T, Infosys, Accenture, Deloitte, Citibank, HDFC, ICICI Pru, Landmark etc. However, the college is dependent on the market trend for the year. Typically the average CTC could lie in between 6 to 8 LPA.

College Events

4.5

Welingkar is big on events, both on curricular & extra curricular fronts. Foundation fortnight(on boarding & induction), Outbound (team building workshop) , Impact(cricket tourney), Assessment Centers(for the students), Pre Specialization Preparatory Program(workshop before internship), D Magic( round table for each domain), and jut some i can recollect.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Given the placements, development & opportunities, I would consider the fee structure very cost effective for a day scholar(especially for HR). For the students who rent out may find the cost of living slightly on the higher side, however, the overall ROI is definitely positive. Given the exorbitant rates of other good colleges, Welingkar is definitely better poised.

Fees and Financial Aid

The trust SP Mandali, which has about a dozen colleges with it, does offer a scholarship. There are also a few corporate scholarships available. However the exact details would be found with the college itself. (These ideally would also be very dependent on the economic aspects too).

Campus Life

4

Good campus life, balanced gender ratio & diversity. Welingkar is big on events, both on curricular & extra curricular fronts. Foundation fortnight(on boarding & induction), Outbound (team building workshop) , Impact(cricket tourney), Assessment Centers(for the students), Pre Specialization Preparatory Program(workshop before internship), D Magic( roundtable for each domain), and jut some i can recollect.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel & food is more of a characteristic of the Mumbai metro city. Welingkar is placed in a student populated area, thus has a good advantage over other colleges. IT is in an area which is known for good food, thus has flurry of options for good, tasty food. Hostel, given the restrictions & complexities of the city is respectable.

Alumni/Alumna

Welignkar traditionally did not have a strong Alumni network, however, developments over the last few years has changed that. I myself have been in touch with my super seniors & super juniors alike. The Alumni community is quite helpful & resourceful. PS : We have a whatsapp group too.

Exam Structure

Exams have a structure that is manageable with extra activities like competitions, events, workshops, internships & projects. The focus of the faculty is in fact on the later. I personally have not dedicated more than 60% of my time for exams/preparations for exams.

Faculty

5

In HR specialization, the support and development provided is truly phenomenal. The staff has respectable number of faculty that has expertise in behavioral sciences. The Visiting faculty is also quite respectable, both in terms of industry experience/ contacts& conceptual understanding.

Admission:

I am currently in the first year of my MBA course at AIBM university. The admission process was pretty straightforward and smooth. Students who have a Bachelor's degree can apply for admission in MBA programme. The eligibility is graduation with 50% + score of either of the five tests (CAT, MAT, XAT, GMAT, MAHCET) is considered. One should know that the final selection also depends on group discussions and personal interview rounds. The process is very much like any other MBA college only, and it starts with filling up an application online.
