Remarks

I enrolled in BCA in the 2017-2020 batch in IBSAR by following the Institute's procedure that includes filling a form & then a personal interview on current affairs & regarding your interests. There is no entrance exam required so that was one reason to attend this institute. This institute is one of the good colleges to study BCA located in Mumbai and I didn't want to explore colleges outside of my city so this was one of the very few options for me.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course Curriculum is very standard and similar to many BCA course curriculum offered in various colleges of the country. BCA course is presumed to be the latest and up to date with current industry demands but sadly it is not the case here. The course syllabus is set by TMV, Pune and it is pretty outdated, for example- In this course, you will learn VB.NET and ASP.NET which are not even used in the industry for many years & have been replaced by the likes of PHP and Python. One thing I will emphasize is you must study on your own as well otherwise just rote learning outdated topics and not looking at the market demand will land you nowhere! Overall the Faculty is pretty decent, some professors that taught us are really good at teaching and it makes you want to attend their lectures everyday and on the other hand handful of professors were really bad at teaching along with a bad attitude which eventually the management took constructive feedback and acted upon it.

Internships Opportunities

4

Few internships were offered in the institute and I was one of the students who got selected for an internship as I had prepared well enough and sat in almost all interviews that were conducted for BCA students. The stipend you receive during an internship is very nominal, one can't expect any monetary returns while working as an intern in small or medium scale companies as the top companies do not come to IBSAR for an internship opportunity.

Placement Experience

4

Placements for BCA students were adequate and out of the 60-70 BCA students about 30% of students (including myself) got placed in Internships and Jobs and the reason these students got placed was that they actually had some relevant skills and showed up in interviews conducted during campus drives. The companies that came to the institute for BCA students were IDBI Bank, Infogain and other small-scale companies too. Companies that came to look for MBA and BBA students were IKEA, Bajaj Finserv, etc. One needs to be relevant to the industry trends and should be skillful in order to clear the interviews. Although the institute might market "100% placements" that is not true as there weren't many companies that came for recruiting BCA students.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees of the 3 year BCA course was 80000 INR per year when I was enrolled and even for that fee structure, it felt like the fees they demand are at a moderately high end of the spectrum. It is slightly expensive if you compare it with other BCA colleges but definitely, there is the option to opt for payment in two parts. There is no scholarship for BCA as of now.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus is of three floors and I'd say I enjoyed the time while I was in the institute as there is a Tech event (Cognizance) and annual function event (Euphoria) and one small sports event held every year and I did participate in all the events just once. The experience was pretty good as you get to explore different things during those weeks. Classrooms are pretty spacious with decent air conditioning and the Computer lab, Library is also fine.

Interview Experience

3.5

Personal Interview based on current affairs, your background and interests are discussed. There is no written test as such before enrollment and neither do they require any entrance exam and this might be one of the reasons to join in case you might have not given any entrance exam previously.
