Remarks
The location of the college is at a very environment-friendly place, the scenery around gives peace of mind. Travelling to the college is comparatively much easier as compared to general Mumbai rush hours as we get to travel downside and avoid the rush. The Admission process is CAT for most of the seats and offline admission for some of the seats as well which is carried out within the Mumbai University Schedule. You can say this college is placed at a remote location as there's very less movement of people around there and the majority of the students and the staff travel here through Local Trains. The teaching and the non-teaching staff are helpful and the campus is decent but can be improved a lot more. The Courses offered in Engineering especially Mechanical and Civil have good strength and activities carried out, IT and Computer as well, other Departments are still very behind in that aspect. Overall this college is a decent one for people living in and around Mumbai.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is decent and the faculty members are generally very friendly and helpful in college. The faculty: student ratio is about 1:15 depending on the department of the various courses available. Qualification of the teachers teaching is a minimum Master's Degree with some of the Teachers having pursued a PhD or MBA as well. The term exams are conducted monthly most of the time with the difficulty level being moderate enough such that students can pass the tests if they prepare it beforehand. Overall the faculty is good enough and very helpful.
Internships Opportunities
More than the college offering internships, it is more like you forming your group or students or going out individually to the companies with an approval letter from the college (which they accept and give it to you hassle-free) you can do internships dusting the summer or the winter vacation. We had done some internships on our Vacations including one at the Indian Railway Workshop in Matunga, Mumbai where the permission of college is required for the students to enrol. The students have to reach out to companies for internships and the college just grants permission for them for it.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible for Campus placement from the 7th Semester and the 8th Semester. There have been various companies vising the campus in recent years and picking up many students from the college. Many of them have their base in different places on Maharashtra, mostly in and around Pune, with some companies coming with job offers in Mumbai as well. The requirements of the companies are different, some needing atleast a 6/7 pointer in their courses, with some of them needing no backlogs at all while some needing good grades in some particular subject. My plans after getting the Degree is to study further, whether it will be going for a Master's Degree or an MBA will be decided in the next few months but it is what is planned for now.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees taken by this college for the courses offered is comparatively less than that of other colleges in Mumbai University. Much of that is due to the location of this college situated at a distance from Mumbai. The fees of the last few years for Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering have been around 60-75k for open caste students. It is lower for different caste students according to their caste. Various scholarships are available for students if they are eligible for that. EBC (Economic Backward Class) scholarships are available for students whose yearly income is below 8 lakh rupees per annum (presently) whereas there are other State and Central Scholarships also available which can be found on the University Website such as the Minority Scholarships, etc. There are campus placement offers where some of the students get selected every year. For the stipend thing, students need to give other exam competitive exams to earn it themselves.
Campus Life
There are annual Techfests at the college where all the Departments organize their own Fests. They are organized usually after the winter exams are over and the new semester has started i.e. around February and March. The library is spacious and there are plenty of books to read for the students. The Classroom is a traditional one with no special amenities than regular ones. Sports events are organized along with the Annual college function every year where students from within the college and other colleges come in to participate and show their talents and skills. The campus in general is a spacious one but is too underutilized.
