Remarks

When I decided that I will do an MBA program, there were a few things that I had in mind. Firstly, I have to stay in Kolkata and study. Secondly, I need to attend a college that will help me groom my skill sets. I was introduced to this college by my Teacher. He recommended to me. I was asked to visit the campus for an entrance examination in May 2019. I gave the exam and then they took a personal interview. The questions were to test my knowledge and know my ambition and intentions. Then, they intimated me about my selection. I preferred this college over the others because they had a capital Market Lab. Since I wanted to take Finance Major, this was the only college apart from IIMs to provide this facility. Then, it was located in the heart of the city, Kolkata in Esplanade and Dalhousie our two campuses. The journey to the Institute was not hectic. They had an extremely experienced Faculties and on the day of admission, I meet some of the faculty and liked them immediately.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

It was predetermined because I liked the commerce subjects since my school days. So, MBA (Finance) was a no brainer. The First year is General and the second year is where specialization starts. The faculty: student ratio is 1: 11. There are more than 40 faculty including both full-time and guest professor's. Majority of the professor's qualification are they have done at least masters in their respected fields. Our Director sir is also a part of our faculty. He teaches us Business Ethics. We have at least 3 professors for each subject. Our Finance major faculty has Mr Sengupta, who is an MBA himself as well as having specialized knowledge about the Share Market. Our other faculties are CA, MBA holders at least. The teaching method followed by them is letting us do the practice what we learn from theory. The examination happens at the end of the semester. Though assessments are done by teachers from time to time. So, the exams are difficult obviously but if we follow up, it is easy.

Internships Opportunities

5

I was very lucky to have got 2 internship opportunities in the amidst of the global pandemic. I first one was by ICICI bank. The role in which we had to work was trying to procure customers and help migrate customers into their digital platform. The stipend provided is 12000/-. At the end of the internship, there was a presentation on the micro market in which we operated. The Bank provided us with feedbacks during our period of 45 days. Then I then did an internship with Finvision Capital Market Private Limited. The role provided was to learn about the stock Market and analyzing the charts and providing investment decisions like when to buy when to sell the stocks. No stipend provided since it was a training and we had to learn and give an assessment to get our certification. We had been doing various charts on the stocks on NSE and BSE.

Placement Experience

4.5

From 3rd Semester, the students become eligible for the campus placements. The college brings various companies like ITC, Parle, Amul, ICICI bank, Bandhan Bank, Berger, Senco Gold and Diamond, IDFC First, Pantaloons, Etc are the companies visiting our campuses. The companies make offers according to their needs. The highest package received in the last term is 11 lakhs. And The average package Overall is 5.25 lakhs. The profiles offered are sales trainee, officers and managers. The percentage of students getting placements are all time is 88% above. This is a relatively high percentage in the city. My plans after getting the degree is to get placed in a finance role for any Bank. Though everyone has a dream company, I don't think anything like that. I need a company where I will feel needed and useful. So, my plan is to work in a bank in a nutshell.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure has 2 methods. One is Full payment at the beginning of the course and the other is Via education loan or Paying each Semester. I have opted for the Education loan. I received the loan and I am paying the fees at the end of each semester. In total we have to pay around 6 times. 2 times before the course starts and after each semester ends. The fees are fixed. They don't hike the fees during the courses. Since I am from Kolkata only, I don't avail the hostel facility so my cost is only the fees for the curriculum. The college does provide scholarship to the weaker financial students sponsored by both Centre and State. But I haven't applied for the scholarship. The internship provided by college provides financial assistance to students. And there are some activities which also fetch students some remuneration for their efforts and college happily let students participate in third party activities until the students are doing it without hampering the studies.

Campus Life

5

Yes, we have annual fest in the month of January. We do a lot of things, we invite other B schools also to come and participate but not every year. Various activities are done including Plays, Music, Dance. The books and Journals are present in our Library. Our college provides us with every business journals. The subject books and also other books are available in plenty. The classroom amenities are Led Projector, Whiteboards, Sound system and a PC for the Professor. We have a fully air-conditioned room. And desks contain both a place to write and keep our bags. We have a Cricket and Football team. So we take sports very seriously. We have an annual sports event where football and cricket are played. So we can participate. There are clubs in which students try to do the things which are run by Student. clubs Like drama club, Sports club, etc.

Interview Experience

4.5

On the admission day, students had to go through a test arranged by the college and then we have to face the PI. The test pattern was Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Maths and GK. Each topic having 25 Questions. Then during the PI, questions were done on my background ie. Accountancy. They also asked my reason for doing an MBA. My ambitions. The process of admission was passing the PI and then they contact the candidates to pay the amount to book the seat. There are some criteria like achieving a required percentage in the Previous course and in School. The minimum was 55% and above in Graduation and 60% above in Class 10 and 12. The admission is also available on the basis of MAT score. They will not have to go through the entrance test. I was told about the examination. So I studied for the exam the day before the examination and honestly I was nervous. PI happened after the exam was finished by me. So I haven't done much preparation. I tried to use my knowledge and calmness.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose the course only because of our HOD, but after completing my course, he left the course. He has helped us with all the things like web development and seo skills. By doing it practically for every student, he offers a domain for every student. I had difficulty with Google Ads & meta ads because it was taught by another faculty. The exam times were different by 3 months.

overall, my journey here was amazing and I am enjoying here. although I got placed but the faculty members are still available to foster me with good understanding. Along with this the facilities like canteen where the food is good and tasty and the international tours organised by the college authority helped me to gain insight into the internationally well structured plan.
