Remarks
This college has everything to become at least an institution of national repute but the college fails to do so due to the bad management practices. Some unprofessional members of the management are responsible for the fall of this institute. In an overall view this college is a decent place to pursue engineering degree.
Entrance Preview
Odisha JEE, Rank 11000. I chose this college after seeing the infrastructure and Placement trend at that time.
Course Curriculum Overview
Decent. The curriculum is above average which includes regular classes, laborotary practicals, industry visits and other extracurricular activities including sports, cultural and technical festivals, social involvements like NSS and NCC etc. The classroom study curriculum is as per the syllabus of BPUT. Regular class attendance is mandatory to appear for the semester exam conducted by BPUT.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities for undergraduate Engineering students are less though some arrangements are made by the institute with nearby industries for some free summer training programs to final year students after seventh semester.
Placement Experience
A dedicated Placement cell named as Career Development Cell works throughout the year to provide the students various Placement opportunities and related trainings. But a student has to work hard to get placed in a decent job. Students are given decent opportunities in both on and off campus placement drives. Converting the opportunities into jobs solely depends upon students.
College Events
Vasantika- The annual cultural mega event of B.Tech wing of the college. Students from all the branches take part in this mega cultural event. Singers and performers of national repute perform on stage on the final day of this cultural extravaganza. Impulse- The annual publication of Electrical Engineering department compiled by students and faculties. Guests and delegates are invited for this publication event. Tech fests, national level seminars are the major events happen in regular intervals.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is moderate as compared to other peer institutions of same standard. When I was a student the fee structure was 98000 rupees per annum(including tuition fee, exam fees, Development fee, placement fee and transportation fee). An additional 45000 per annum was being charged for the hostel and food expenses.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships are available to the meritorious and financially stressed students by the college as well as Govt. of Odisha in association with the college. Education loans are provided to the students in arrangement with nationalized banks.
Campus Life
The campus life is though not great but good here. Students have all the opportunities to pursue there dreams here. Not only academic the sports infrastructure of the college can be used to excel in the field of sports. College has Students from diverse cultural and demographic backgrounds. A healthy mix of gender diversity is also part of the college. Students in association with faculties conduct regular technical and non technical seminars, tech fests and other activities throughout the year.
Hostel Facilities
In campus separate hostels for boys and girls is available in the college with all modern and basic amenities like sports complex, gymnasium, 24 hour WiFi. The food served are of decent standard. Transportation faculties are given to hostel tenants to the nearby city. Incampus doctors and ambulance services are available to students.
Alumni/Alumna
Though the college conducts alumni meets every year in different places to keep the alumnus in sync with college, those are not enough. The alumnus of the college are not well connected with the college.
Exam Structure
Exam structure is Semester wise. Semester carries 70℅ weightage is conducted by BPUT in each academic session, where as internal exams attract 30℅ marks conducted by the colleges. The laboratory practicals are conducted in the college as per syllabus and grades are sent to the universities which reflects in university grade sheets.
Faculty
Faculties constitute a healthy mix of experienced and young talents. Most of the faculty members are as per the standards of BPUT and AICTE. Every department has at least a PhD holder professor involved in academic activities. The student faculty ratio is 1:20 approximately which is a healthy ratio. Faculties assist positively with the students in project works undertaken in the final year of engineering.
